Not gonna lie, I'm a bit disappointed.

The game is just
>Research
>Build
>Fight other players

Sure, the surroundings change, but there is not a lot of unit variety. A lot of the choices don't effect game-play, and it's even hard to roleplay as a certain faction.

Imagine having a demon theme. Well, you have to look up necromancy, and ice stuff before you can curse the land.

Or why not the good old "we make guns" industrialist.
Well, you can't make guns. My rat bois just made increasingly better golems and swords. Couldn't even mass produce units. But we had a "Tank" unit (A guy with a shield) that took 8 turns to make.

There are no traits that make you a bunch of rats with boomsticks, and i find that unfortunate.

On the other end, I wanted to make elves that were just doom-bringers. Stat-wise they should of had high HP, Magic, and damage... But they basically had the same units, just replace golems with skeletons (A slightly cheap & squishy substitute that doesn't heal without help)

So, there's that.

On the plus side, it's not a bad game for what it is. the polish is there, it's very charming, and the choices (Even though they don't have much impact) are often good story beats, and add flavour to the world. The sound track is nice, and I really do love the ability to create custom critters... I just wish the mechanics would reflect the tone of the game.
If i run a necromancer, I don't really want to research ice magic.
Rock body racial traits are cool stat mods, but it doesn't fit the theme of rats with guns.
And demon elfs are cool, thank you for letting us design them, but it's a bit underwhelming when they play almost exactly the same as the necromancer I made.

I have lost my wife, my child, and my sanity.
Flee before this game does to you what it has done to me.

Fun, but complex. Just avoid adding wildlife because it'll wreck your ♥♥♥♥, and the game tends to end too quickly sometimes. I recommend starting with worlds with a lot of water, and low radiation.

It's a game done right, with good messages.
It was obviously a passion project from people who enjoyed fire emblem, tactics ogre, and other old fashioned games. Every unit is extremely customisable, and comes with it's own abilities, nature, and stat blocks. You can have a team of cannons, or a group of wizards hiding behind a line of shields. or a group of war priests that will never die in battle.
The game has a good, albeit linear story. and the side-quests and missions are fun as well. They got the core of the game down before they added other features, but you can tell some things missed a bit of polish?
Nah, the game's polished to all hell, but you can see that it's an indie project, and as such they had to aim for a smaller goal than bigger studios. And earnestly, when my only complaint is "I wanted more content" It's a good game.
I'm hoping they finish the second game in the next two or three years, because I'll probably get it as well.

Game's fun, but a little complicated.

I'm trying to pollute the earth in order to be the only landmass able to exist on the planet due to the sea levels rising. I'm not sure if I need to fire lasers through the upper atmosphere more often, or add more to spoils and economy. Sadly nuking the planet only cools it down, so I'm trying to avoid nuclear retaliation for my war crimes.

It's a hidden gem. The game gets old after you've figured out a bit of it, but it'll stay fun for quite some time as you test out the game. Auto battle is a godscend in the later parts of the story, and letting the AI handle the smaller and repetitive stuff is just a good idea. I wish there were a bit more story, more events, and more unit types that make things different. But It's a good game as is, and really doesn't need that extra stuff.

I run this game on a potato, and it shows, but even with the settings on the lowest possable, it is nice in almost every way. I became a tradesman, joined a army, betrayed the army, and paid off my former employers in order to keep my nice home on a hill. Now i travel the countryside giving wooden swords to random people as i ask nobles about their escapades, and hunt bandits for fun.

I love this game.

This is a game you can play forever, and still find things. When the game is over, you have another faction you can play. But the fun part of this game, is the experimentation.

Once you get to the mid to late game, make custom armies based on what your lord does best. Mazdamundi surrounded by an army of holy warriors, Call the team the A-Men. Make an army only of blessed skinks, and focus on skink power with your renowned lord Iggy-Wanna.
Make an entire army of witch elves that smite your foes from atop a horse. Really, the game is a blast if you play for fun.

If you play to kill, Run the game on hard difficulty. The foes you fight are abusively dangerous, and it makes it sweet when you revel in their bloodshed. Fight unending hoards of chaos incarnate as you kill your way to victory. Because this is warhammer, and the only diplomacy is Eldar diplomacy. So have fun with murder as the world burns in the background.

Man, I hate to be harsh because this product is both in early access, and the single Developer is going through hell to make the game as good as possible. Yet I won't lie, this game has bugs that make the game a slog to play.

1: (PARTIALLY RESOLVED) Your units stutter on the world map (you click on a space, and they take their sweet time to get there) They still lag every three steps, but it's better than the old bug.
2: (PARTIALLY RESOLVED) sometimes your units decide that the space over yonder is more important than the battlefield. Your main character might yeet out of the map, and run like no tomorrow. You can't control anything when this happens, and I've lost progress because of it. (She decided to leave tutorial city)
3: As of this patch, the foes are too large in number to defeat easily. I am stuck in the shadowlands with a troop force of 40+ and i keep getting killed by the group of around 60 demons complete with magic and demon fairies.(MOSTLY RESOLVED) Tough foes, but the game's winnable now. Arena helps level and upgrade the teams.
4: Because of the past couple of issues, It has taken me all my game time to get to this point, about 27 hours. All of my units have the best gear I can get them, and are completely upgraded. I have only one ranged team, and four melee teams all with good leaders. And I still can't beat this one group of demons. (RESOLVED, STORY COMPLETED)

Now, i am playing this game on a chromebook, and spent the first half of the game without the ability to zoom out. I also believe that most of the glitches are because of the chromebook, and not the game. (Watching let's-plays has enforced that view) But even still, the game is unbalanced, and you will need a lot of save files before you continue to play the game.

But two good things kept me playing

1: The strategy in this game is well balanced, and interesting. Every unit type brings something different to the table, and figuring out what everything can do is half of the fun.
2: The game has the potential to be great, and you can see where one or two changes can make the game all the better. (plus, the developer works on the game all the time, so you can bet your butt that he'll implement it in the future)

I recommend it with an astrix. If you want to support the Dev, and if you love strategy then please support this game. But if you don't love strategy, or don't care about the dev. This game will either be unplayable for you (because of the current level of difficulty), or you will be annoyed with the time it takes to improve the game/the constant updates. Because it is basically one developer making this thing.
