Pros:
Dead By Daylight makes me come back and re-visit the game year, after year, and I never seem to get bored or burnt out because of its enticing game-play. It's apparent to me that the developers, trust and safety team, community monitors, and all that are contributing to this game, care about the game's development and those who are passionate about the game, the players. As someone who has purchased this game at its release date here on, Steam. Someone who continues to be a heavy advocate for oncoming news about the game, nothing objectively disappoints, regarding the updates. The atmosphere and cinematic pleasure is outstanding for every map. The movement is fluent and enjoyable on both sides. The animations get better and improve in complexity. The perk system is unique and consistent. This game has made a lot of warm memories for me to cherish. I've met long time friends through this game.

Cons:
The game has a HUGE hit-box issue, ever since the game has been released. This issue effects both sides, the Survivors, and the Killers. The believed reason for this is, the game seems to be using basic hit-boxes instead of animated hit-boxes for vaulting pallets and windows. For those who don't understand the difference, I'll explain. "Basic hit-box", will play the animation where the avatar is located, so your hit-box will be on the window or pallet until the animation is done. While an, "Animated Hit-box", will move the hit-box as the avatar moves. Why haven't they switched over to animated hit-boxes? I'll never know, maybe it's more of a complicated transfer then I realize. Back in 2017, there was an exploit where your save file would be deleted. This could sometimes be caused if you played Dead By Daylight when Steam would do their weekly server resets. Thankfully, this does not occur anymore.

Final Thoughts?:
I've had my fair share of aggression regarding this game, I will not lie. So much so that I've developed a love/hate relationship with this game. But the developers have their heart in the right place with this game and what they've made and are continuing to make is truly beautiful. That means a lot to me as a constant consumer of video games and virtual entertainment. A constant redundant phrase, but it's true. Video games are by no-means perfect in every category. This game is, by all means, no exception. But there are some talented individuals trying their best to encompass us in this virtual world they've created. That goes for most ambitious video game creators. If you can make me come back to your game year, after year. You're doing something right. The game's addicting.

"I think we did a pretty good job so far."

Note: This is an early access review. Everything is subject to change

Intro:
I was one of the lucky folks to be able to play this game during the closed beta. I played the heck out of said beta. There was only one trial available during the beta and I had 40+ hours in it! That speaks volumes for the amount of fun to be had for me. Now that, at the current writing of this review, the game is now in early access and I believe is totally worth the $30 price tag.

Pros:
If you're a Outlast veteran such as myself you'll be happy to see that the movement system and mechanics from the previous games are all still present with some welcoming innovations. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this game will be multiplayer centric! The community, in my personal experience, has been very positive and enjoyable! The game runs beautifully! And looks stunning! I found the lore surrounding the game to be intriguing as well. The trials themselves are addicting to go through! Most of them hardly feel like a chore and when you have 3 other people by your side there's never a dull moment!

Cons:
Given the nature of early access games it's inevitable that you will come across some irritating bugs and or glitches. I've personally experienced a few myself, although none of them game breaking, just irritating to deal with.

Narrative Misunderstanding?:
Now, I do like the story The Outlast Trials is trying to tell and it is in it's early stages after all so I do try to take it with a grain of salt. There's a lot that has potential here, However, i'm confused as to why most of the trial's core messages seem to not have any barring on what the overall story is trying to convey to you. I don't want to reveal too much because, honestly, I would like you to experience it for yourself and see what you personally think so I'll try and be appropriately vague and concise as I can here. Throughout the game a Doctor working for the facility that you found yourself in will give you some insight as to why you're going through these trials as well as what your objective is with each trial. As you progress, you start to have a better understanding as to what the facility is trying to accomplish. Whether that be from the documents you find or what the doctor conveys to you. What I don't get is the facility is trying to shape you into this sleeper agent of sorts but yet, for example, there's a trial where you're objective is to make soup out of bleach and human body parts? I just don't find that objective for the trial and the end goal of you turning into this "secret weapon" correlating with one another... But maybe it's more about the actions you take and tribulations you go through and NOT the main objective of each trial... I don't know. I just thought it's something worth talking about.
