When I thought they did an amazing job in the previous game, Demon Hunter series returned to the bad route. This game is very bad and extremely boring. Instead of playing with Dawn who grew old, you are playing as her niece, Lila who you saved from the previous game. The story is very out of the place, the first objective was finding an artifact to fix a gauntlet, then with some turn of events, you use this unfinished gauntlet to save your aunt and another missing person as you somehow teleported to ancient Egypt and meet the old gods. It was a very underwhelming experience.

The artwork is good but verything else in average quality. The cutscenes, repetitive music and even the hidden objects scenes. Nothing wowed me in this game.

There is a fast traveling map, and again you'll have only sections to roam in before you move to another and miss some of the collectibles. The journal has only objective, nothing to recap the story which only lasts for two hours.

Pros:
+Fast traveling map.
+Collectibles.
+OK hidden objects scenes.
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
-Repetitive soundtracks.
-Same puzzles from the previous games.
-Mediocre story.
-Bad journal (Has only objectives and doesn't recap the story)
-Below average voice-overs.

The bonus chapter is even more boring, this series focuses on the gameplay more than the story. If you are in the play some puzzles and hidden objects scenes without caring about the actual plot, then this one is for you.

We are in the same boat now Deisophia.. and sadly.. as I'm currently playing the latest game they've launched, it is even worse >.< I hope it will just be the first impression, I'll update you once I finish it with my final opinion.

First paragraph was why I just turned from this series. The third game, even though I disliked it, promised to go somewhere and then... This. Totally different setting that drops all the threads of the first titles. And not even the 'exotic' elements can save it from mundanity...

I really do blame the Spark engine for this, it's too easy to rely on its plug mechanics to deliver the same puzzles over and over, the mental exercises are the same, despite overlying superficial graphics that seem to offer difference but don't. They need to upgrade the spark engine... Sooner rather than later, to add more puzzles and variety.

Sadly, I agree :(

Great review, dear Feena :stars:
I.verveer is right - there is too much of the same stuff in most new games- nothing much to excite any more . Sigh.
