Humankind has become infertile

Rain of Reflection has a mixture of all in one game. Atmospheric, narrative, adventure, and turn-base. This mixture surprisingly worked well. It contains three separate chapters, only one of them is out now and called 'Set Free' which tells us a story about Willona, a scientist working to find a solution to the world's sudden infertility. Doubting if what she is doing is the right thing, Willona decided to break into the lab and free the lastborn child, but this, of course, wasn't an easy path to take.

Willona will interact with many people, her personality will shape up depends on your choices, you can either be alone or with some people helping you out through this plan. This game has different endings and multiple scenes. The controlling can be switched between regular point&click or moving the character by holding down the mouse button, but you can also use the gamepad if you prefer. I enjoyed it more as a P&C.

I liked the graphics of this game, I didn't like the main character's look but she started to grow in me as I'm playing. The voice-overs, however, are very well done, especially Willona.

There are three types of puzzles you'll encounter once Willona decides to hack a system.
  • Firewall hacking(Rotate an image to fit the silhouette. You'll get a certain number of turns before failing)
  • Breach hacking (Moving a ball by clicking on highlighted tiles to reach a goal before the security system spreading)
  • Communication hack (By right-clicking you can hear where the waves of the audio coming from, then you need to move toward the audio source)

I didn't mind those puzzles at the beginning, but toward the end, it started to be too repetitive for my liking. There is also no manual save, if you quit the game midway you'll be restarted from the last checkpoint.

The game shifted to turn-base battles are whenever you encounter enemies, I enjoyed this part a lot, it is very creative as you can totally stealth your way out, or fight the enemies. You'll also collect power for your batteries which charges your invisible clock, this will enable you to sneak around freely. I liked also the phrases they use to boost the characters, either to encourage them, make them focus, inspired, discourage, as well as to annoying them.

Pros:
+Interesting story and characters.
+Good graphics
+Outstanding soundtracks (You can listen to the album on Spotify[open.spotify.com])
+Very well-done voice over.
+Turn-base battles.
+Steam achievements.

Cons:
-Repetitive puzzles.
-No manual save (You'll restart from the checkpoint if you quit midway)
-Unfinished game (Only one chapter is released)

The soundtracks are so beautiful, you can listen to the album on Spotify[open.spotify.com]. Currently, this is chapter one of two other episodes, the developers mentioned they all have different characters and stories. So it is safe to say this chapter ended with a conclusion.

maybe adjust review ? game was released in 2019, no news from dev for chapter 2 and chapter 3... its a dead game ... (altho i liked it a lot, but playing 1/3 of a game you like, being unable to ever play the rest, really sucks)

You are welcome! I don't remember if the checkpoints were generous or not, but since I commented on that, I guess it was annoying XD I will double-check and get back to you.

Thank you for the review, Feena! How are the checkpoints? Are they generous, spaced out too far, or somewhere in between? :tokitori:
