I played X/Y for the jump to 3D, but otherwise I haven't played a Pokemon game since Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.
All the mystery's gone now, so there's no feeling of discovery, and although I like the battle system, the rest of the game feels more like an obstacle toward experiencing it since it's less about you truly outplaying your opponents and more about you just having played long enough to have access to better pokemon/moves/abilities/etc than the NPCs.
I haven't had a desire to play the mainline Pokemon games ever since I discovered that online battle simulators existed.
