I think you should check out the Dark Eye series. I think it's based off of a German pen and paper rpg, basically German D&D.
The first PC game in the series is Drakensang. I own it and I rather enjoy it. It's a party based rpg, not unlike Neverwinter Nights, but each class has 3 subclasses, and rogue-types have social skills, seduce, haggle, persuade, etc. And each of those skills become useful throughout the campaign.
