Take WipEout 1-3, add just enough modern advancement for playability's sake, throw in a lot of love for hover-racing games and you have BallisticNG.

It's pretty good, I still have the original '99 version of AVP. Great update to that classic, which is now, itself a classic!

Incredibly addictive, once you get used to the overall strategy. It's best to hang back at the start of the race and stay just behind third place, boosting (preferably) into first in the last lap. Otherwise, you'll get shredded by the guns of everyone behind you.

Just a good old fashioned shoot-'em-up, one that scratches the itch for something like Gradius, except fair.
