Ridiculously repetitive. Hope you enjoy doing the same grind for hundreds of hours, consisting of:
Walk to location.
Kill things at location
Walk back to base.
Repeat for a couple hundred hours.

Nothing like Stalker except for the appearance. Your health regenerates, your radiation regenerates, there's no survival mechanics, you can't loot weapons or armour.

Most of the gameplay consists of "walk here, talk here" to NPCs standing around -- Most of the "PvP" gameplay ends up being pleading to the guy you just killed to buy his stuff back.

When you die to another player, your premium currencies that you got from grinding goes into a bag. Only the person who died can access this bag. The player who killed you cannot do anything with this bag except sell it back to you. Meaning to get returns from PvP, you have to hope the player buys their bag back. Except most of the time, they just don't... Would you pay your killer? No. And if you had extremely expensive currencies, chances are is that you can't afford to buy it back anyway. So PvP is effectively useless and serves to only delay another players grind, which is why it's largely frowned upon by the community and why it's a waste of time to hunt players.

When dying, you don't actually lose any of your equipment, you lose your ammo and consumables. The ammo is ridiculously cheap, where you can buy 100 rounds for 52 rubles (you get thousands of rubles easily), you also can't sell ammo. Health-packs are pointless because you regenerate health. You're then left with misc items which are just for selling and your special barter currencies.

The special barter currencies are used to get the next tier of weapons and the only effective way to get them is through events. Events are very stingy, so expect to do looots of grinding to get the next tier of what you're after. It doesn't help that the events are amazingly boring. Hope you enjoy mutants who run around in a circle and then make a B-Line towards you when you shoot them. It involves a lot of shooting them from a distance, running as you reload, turn around to shoot again, and repeat until the event is over.

You'd think, to speed things up, to engage in some PvP to get another players grinding, but as mentioned above, that will only get you rubles (if anyone buys their items back, but no one ever will.) But to make use of those rubles you need the event currencies anyway, making PvP even more pointless.

Okay, so maybe instead you can use those theoretical rubles to buy the event currencies that another player is selling? Wise idea... But it's not cost-time-effective to do this and is primarily for endgame content, which means sinking a couple hundred of hours to make the auction shop useful.

In other words, hope you're content with grinding the same boring event for a couple hundred hours. That's the whole game.

Don't recommend, wait for sale or when there's more mods available.

Still tossing up my thoughts on it, but for now it's basically the endgame of Eldenring but for the entire expansion. Inflated health pools, everything hits hard.

Bosses are absolutely awful and not very fun to fight. They all have input reading, stun-locks, randomised attack combos, no clear pattern. Even with lots of blessings, bosses usually end up being cheesed. Worst thing is the run-up to the boss, some of them take over a minute to get to, including buff time.

Defeating bosses doesn't feel like a challenge, it just feels like RNG and luck, and at the end of each fight you don't walk away feeling accomplished or powerful, but instead that you got good luck this time around.

Quest design is still awful. Take one wrong step, explore too far, or defeat a boss and you'll find yourself ending questlines you didn't even know existed. Having to rest at a site of grace, talk to NPC, rest, talk, rest, talk (not exaggerating btw) is awful quest design.

Exploration is absolutely awful, there's very little to explore around the zones. If something looks obvious on your map, that's probably because it is. No secrets to be found here. Don't bother combing through each area. Find a thing on the map and go to it for that zone.

One of the many examples is the Abyssal Woods, a huge swamp that you see from above many times, and features a really great environment. It takes up almost a quarter of the map. annnd once you finally get there... It's empty. There's three weapons, one talisman, and two crafting books. You get two of these weapons almost immediately.

They went back to their DS1 roots where you can tell they just copypasted enemies to fill up most of the open world. Usually the enemies blend into their environment, maybe they're sitting down, or marching in a line. Nope, not in SOTE. Most of the time it's just enemies standing still, staring off into the distance.

They did improve the optional dungeons and caves though, they're now much, much bigger and feel less copy-pasted. Most of the time they lead you to an entirely different area, which is fun, glad they at least learnt that.

basically play end-game eldenring for a while. Are you having fun? Yes? Sure, get the expansion. No? Don't.

Horribly imbalanced, laggy, stuttery game where the gameplay itself is purely RNG. Even with the right ammo type, positioning and aiming, it's still completely random if your shot will be able to kill an enemy. Unless you are going to put in hundreds of hours of instantly identifying what grey-green blob is what tank, and exactly where its weaknesses are, while hoping your shots roll the RNG dice well enough to kill.

It's also ridiculously pay to win, where if you don't pay money, you're going to be limited to your selections and you'll have to put in more time and effort for what others get with their own money. It's no mistaking that every top-scoring player is paying premium.
