Early Access Review
Great game so far, haven't encountered a single bug yet, runs pretty great, doesn't chug even with huge swarms of enemies, even on Steamdeck performance was pretty great, granted I only played on it for an hour or so.

Good amount of unlocks, ranging from tons of weapons, three races and five classes, as well as runes for upgrades, good amount of meta progression upgrades. However, I feel like weapons should have 5 more levels of power added on top with last level giving a weapon specific passive ability to that weapon, and it would be neat for visual effects on weapons of lets say you socket the rune that converts swords primal(physical) damage to fire and your sword gets a visual fiery effects, but that's just minor wishlist.

Most areas you fight in are rather limited circular arenas, so that might turn some people off, and while I personally don't mind I think it would be nice to see more maps, or maybe have map modifiers that increases arena sizes or give somekind of effects, positive or negative, like weather, storms, sunny, etc

overall solid amount of content with an endless arena for now, but if you check the entirety of the world map, we're only currently scratching under 20% of the map or so, so it seems like there's a lot of content to come. But even now I can wholeheartedly recommend this.

This is a full priced game, with season pass DLC and micro transactions, yet quality of it feels like a full conversion mod of a 12 year old double A game.

Now, I would have still recommended it if you'd get the entire thing for 20 bucks or less, however I can't just because of how buggy and unfinished this game is, final mission was me fighting against enemies while png picture of final boss was watching me from the background, where mechanics were broken and would trigger before met conditions, and half of the attack animations wouldn't play, overall anti-climactic finale with teaser to a sequel which will never happen.

Anyway, going back to beginning, you do a short tutorial, and then you get to create your OC do not steal character, the Hunter. You can't really pick your powers, so you'll have to use abilities from your Hunters pool of abilities. The combat plays out in a flat space using deck of cards, up to 3 hero squad, 8 cards per hero, so the deck stays relatively trimmed, you also use environment during combat a lot, as well as chaining abilities in a way to refund your card plays per turn, overall cobat is quite fun especially when you start upgrading cards and gain affixes for them, however, there creeps in the first problem, combat is fun, but there is not enough of it, vast majority of the game will be in your home base, the Abbey. With decently sized back yard to explore you'll definitely be busy for a while, but most certainly most of your time will be spent being some kind of a counselor for your team of super heroes who have entire semi truck of baggage they will trauma dump on you, with dialogues that play out like two AIs trying to pretend to be human but they were trained only by watching Marvel movies, throwing puns and references at your character who by the way was just resurrected after being dead for 300 years and doesn't even know what indoor plumbing is. But 90% of dialogue is extremely inane with same topics repeated every other conversation just worded out differently, it felt like padding, which sucks because I wanted more combat.

Overall, if you can handle all the bugs, and risk being locked out of 100%ing the game like it happened to me, and you can get it cheap, then go ahead, if you like deckbuilders you will have a pretty good time, but only if you can get it cheap.

I am really confused as to what people see in this game, collecting costumes is fun and swinging around Manhattan feels very nice as well, but that's about it.

The combat feels like you are slapping people with wet noodles, boss fights, especially DLC ones are extremely disappointing and boring, at one point it feels like you'll be taking on 5 villains at once which would have been legitimately amazing, and it ends up in a cutscene. There is also barely any enemy variety in it apart from looking different depending on the faction. Your allies also do not hurt your enemies no matter how much they shoot.

You also get forced to play as Miles or MJ quite a few times, where enemies conveniently become legally blind, the first Miles stealth section is especially hilarious, considering Demons are killing everyone and are told "no survivors" yet Miles gets caught and about to be killed suddenly Demons get orders to leave, when stabbing and killing him would've taken less than two seconds, as it often is with modern game writing, characters are only as competent as lazy writing needs it to be, probably the dumbest thing was how Miles got his powers, MJ carried a spider out of a lab by accident, which somehow was hiding in her jacked and didn't bite her or anyone else but went specifically for Miles.

The writing overall is really bad, MJ's and other womens constant girl bossing and just obnoxious attitude would make me instantly web them to a wall and leave them there, the story overall is barely serviceable, for example Miles is so extremely shoehorned into the story, you investigate a warehouse and a cop comes to assist you as if you, Spider-man, won't be able to get inside and search the property, then he somehow saves your life by doing nothing, just to shoe horn in his son in to the story who turns out to be Miles. Also just horrendously stupid decisions during missions, like driving trucks with important cargo through easily ambushable areas while you have to defend them and so on.

Side content in this game is also some of the biggest time wastes imaginable, there were times where scoring system on certain challenges went completely haywire and would score me better for doing worse and vice versa. Or having a sub objective of not getting hurt during side challenge, and you get hurt during QTE by random NPCs not belonging to that side activity, which is unavoidable, failing the challenge, that is borderline ridiculous.

I genuinely do not understand appeal of this game nor do I understand people enjoying it, unless maybe you are a die hard Spider-man fan and you are ready to gobble up any slop thrown at you, and if that's the case, I won't blame you, but I feel you deserve better.

It might be free but it's a waste of time, a game made to promote Life is Strange 2, which is garbage in itself, as well as made to tuck on your heartstrings because mom dies and dad is an alcoholic loser who takes it out on his son, get some new material, please.

This was really fun, I can't say I have much negative to say, obviously this is just a small slice of the game, but it kept me really engaged, the combat was really fun, the ability to free aim into where you've seen movement even if you can't directly target the enemies and actually hit them is extremely satisfying, the character chatter seemed pretty good, none of that marvel/reddit cringe with unfunny quips every 3 seconds, overall loved it,
there is only one negative I can think of and it's when you select your unit it marks area where you can move and still perform an attack with green color, however, it marks it for any weapon you have and not equiped weapon currently, which put me out of position a few times, but overall, I really loved it.

Writing is abysmal in this game, your companion characters solely exist to sabotage your efforts, nothing you do matters.

This game is so contrived, it pushes you down the dumbest path down, which could have been avoided if characters had more than 2 braincells.

In typical Telltale fashion, characters are as incompetent as plot demands of them, animations look hilariously bad, action is laughable, QTEs are a joke, although I don't think I could stomach them if they were any more involved, that said, just like their other games, QTE prompts occasionally get obstructed by characters or camera angles, and ofcourse, the biggest lie, the illusion of choice. All knitted into a garbage story.

Worst Vampire Survivors clone I have ever played, I could elaborate, but the game doesn't deserve any more of my time

It's short, it's dull, it's not as cathartic as expected, you can place things, and you can't always move around already existing things, nor you can move shelves etc, sometimes you have things that seemingly don't fit anywhere, also you unpack a lot of useless junk, which makes finding a nice and fitting place tedious.
it sorta gives you a story which from around half way point you know exactly where it's going cause you know exactly what kind of people made it up.
Nothing wrong with it, but predictability of it all is hilarious.
Unless you are depressed or this theme of moving and finding place of your own is heavily sentimental to you, I wouldn't waste time on it.
