To The Moon is simply put the most beautiful experience I've ever had in a looooong time. It takes an alternate approach to story-telling by going backwards in the timeline, and really pays off in the end as a result. It only took four hours for me to finish, but by the end I was covered in tears. Despite the lack of gameplay, the simple concept of exploration was enough for me to continue for I felt that any sort of standard gameplay mechanic would draw away from the story itself. It was an unforgettable journey, and if anyone in the world tells you that video games aren't art just shove this game into their face.

Brilliant Story. Touching Soundtrack. Gorgeous Pixel Art. Just Play It.

P.S. Now I'll never look at a platypus the same way again.

The Beginner's Guide is a marvel of a game. Unlike the whimsical and ridiculous tone of the Stanley Parable, this game has a much more dark and personal storyline. I would go so much as to call it a journey. Digging into the mind of a game developer struggling to comprehend why a set of sporadic games were made made me realize just how powerful games can convey messages and meaning. I always knew that games leave emotional and personal marks on people after their first playthrough, but this was something else. Despite the small amount of content in the game and the lack of replayability, the story and the narration pack a punch from beginning to end, and anyone who appreciates the ideology of games or any sort of narrative journey should give this a try. Davey Wreden, you've manage to make me laugh my ass off and be on the brink of tears in your games, and I personally hope to see more from you in the future. There's a Coda for all of us somewhere Davey...I hope your friend returns to you.

9/10 Would find the Lamppost again.

This is the game that every parkour artist should own. Mirror's Edge takes your reflexes and reaction time to the test as you vault, leap, and climb your way across rooftops and hallways in a giant obsticle course. In the game, you try to find a suitable path to more forward by any means neccesary. This is where the true gymnast in you emerges, as you devise a way to vault from one wall to the other and then wall run across a gap to a pole where you latch on all in a matter of seconds. The game highlights objects in red as you speed across the rooftops so that you have a preference as to where your destination is, and this helps newcombers figure out where to head. Despite that and a little bit of first person shooting, the majority of the game consists of that. Eventually it does get a bit tiresome, and sometimes I can't tell where I'm supposed to go. But most of the time it's a thrilling chase.

My favorite part of the LEGO games by Travellers Tales is the fact that there's so much to collect. I mean sure building is fun and all, and kicking plastic butt is great as well, but it was the collectaibility that kept me playing the majority of the time. With that being said, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes not only involves some of my favorite childhood heroes and villians, but it also acts as the largest LEGO game to date, with a large map of New York to explore in its blocky glory. You can play as classic characters like Iron Man, Spiderman, and the Hulk, but there's also characters I've honestly never heard of before, like the Wizard and Dormammuu. There are SO MANY THINGS TO COLLECT, from character tokens, to vehicles, to gold bricks, to deadpool bricks (oh yes, deadpool makes a large appearence in this game, and it's glorious) and more. It's quite the challenge. The story of the game is awesome and manages to tie in all of these heroes and villians pretty well. Different abilites are assigned to different characters based on their powers, and the way some heroes can attack are badass (Hulk even does the exact ragdoll throw he does to Loki in the Avengers if you do it right). It's the best LEGO game to date, and I hope Tt games manages to exceed this mark. At this point I don't know how they can make it better,

Gone Home gives you an interestingly casual premise. You're a young woman returning from home to find that none of your family members are there. Although this sounds like the intro to a horror movie, it's not. Nothing jumps at you, nothing scares you, and nothing makes you travel a certain path. Instead, you're given the liberty of searching around the house for clues as to what had happened. I won't spoil anything here, but the story is pretty interesting and sweet in a way. It's a very real game, and I'm afriad i can't say much else about that. But I will say that I finished this game in one sitting, and the satisfaction of slowly coming to realize what had happened made me feel like a true detective. However, this game was far too short for my expectations, and I honestly think it wasn't worth the money, having absolutly no replayability. There wasn't any action at all, but it's still something interesting to go through whether with friends or by yourself. (My experience involved me playing with two of my relatives watching. They found it just as fun to watch as to play.)

Based off of the premise of the television show, the Walking Dead game explores the story of a good-willed escaped convict named Lee and a girl taken under his wing named Clementine. Consisting of five episodes spaced out through transitional periods of time, similar to a show, the game takes you through a tragic story about what it takes to survive in a collapsing society. This game, to put it shortly, is fantastic. Not only did the story shock and move me, but it really felt like I was involved in the entire thing, since my decisions dictated what would happen in the game. Despite it being a bit dull as a point and click game, I felt like I would have no clue what would've happened if I hadn't made the choices i did. Character's deaths were under my hands, and it made the Walking Dead different from almost every other role playing game. You hated some characters, and you loved some. You watched some die, and you live to see some survive in the end. All in all, a gripping tale. Telltale games is great at what they do, and I hope to buy and play Season 2 as soon as episode 5 comes out.

"Merciful God, you have sent me an Apostle! Guard your life son, you have a calling..."
The not-so-abandoned Mount Massive Asylum has been the scariest place i have ever ventured in through video games. As you feel like you're about to escape, you're only treading deeper into the abyss of blood trails and the screams of patients. Given that I bought this game to be terrified and genuinely thrilled by the experience, it never let up on the scares. Playing alone in the dark with headphones on gave me the full blast of fear, and by the end of the game I literally had my mouth gaping open at what had just happened. There's so much more to the game as you traverse further and further. Some tasks required me to make my way to somewhere, while others required that I turn on several switches around the place (which i admit was tediuos work, but I mean just walking from point A to point B past the person chasing you takes the fun out of things) The story was more in depth than I had initially believed, and it made the game much more interesting. With several characters hunting after you, there's no time to waste as you try to make it out alive.
No doubt the best horror game I have ever played, and although some might tell me Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a scarier game, I feel like Outlast would give it a run for it's money. Play if you dare.

LIMBO is one of those games that you really have to focus and play through, no matter how tedious or frustrating it gets, just because you want to know what happens next. There's little explination for what has occured, and you start out as a little boy wandering in a dark field searching for something, but you don't know what. From then on it's just pure platforming and puzzle solving. It's not the most exciting game in the world, and i had to take breaks from time to time because quite frankly I got bored of it, but soon enough I'd give the game another shot. One thing i didn't expect was the difficulty of this game. I died more times than Kenny from South Park in that game, but i kept on for reasons I don't really know. The puzzles were really hard to solve by the end, and i needed a guide to complete the game. The ending is hardly satisfying though, and i felt like the game was a waste to play because of it, but then i realized it was that strenuous journey to get to the end that made LIMBO a worthwile game. It was beautifully crafted, and I was sort-of proud to be able to complete it. I felt like I was really in a trance, and at the end i just woke up from it.
It's not the best game, and some people won't be patient enough to play it all the way through. But in the end LIMBO was meant for one purpose, to transport the player into a trance, and see if the player could get out of it. It does a decent job of it

The caped crusader's debut into modern video gaming certianly was a large one. And trust me it doesn't dissapoint. Arkham Asylum pits Batman against some of his greatest foes and acts as the perfect setting for the dark insane tone the batman universe should have. The fighting system in the game is simple but excellent to play with, the amount of bonuses with the riddler challanges give you a reason to continue playing the game, the story doesn't feel too cluttered when it comes to having so many villians, and the voice acting is top notch. My only complaint is the fact that game wasn't exciting throughout. There were dull moments such as saving civilians or getting past Ivy's plants, but that's hardly a complaint when dealing with the entire game.

If you're looking for something cute, yet trippy; clever, yet simple, then FEZ is the game for you.
In this 8-Bit mind-busting platformer, you play a little guy named FEZ who's sent around looking for pieces to a giant cube thing that apparently is in charge of the entire universe (or something like that). The game starts off pretty slow, but at some point you begin to get the chance to really explore your surroundings and search for these blocks. The envoirments are very vibrant, and you can easily tell and recall where a location is on your map since every area tries to be as unique as possible. The ablitiy to switch between different planes on the dimensional field was the selling point for the game, and rotating between pillars to uncover hidden doors or platforms helped make this a unique puzzle/platformer.
However, the game comes at you all at once with perplexing puzzles and complicated codes that you have to figure out. The game is so in depth that it has it's own Alphabet, Numerical System, and a so-called "Tetris Code" that you use to input commands and unlock blocks. I ended up trying to look for every single nook and cranny in this game, and some aspects of it make you break the fourth wall at times, like waiting for a clock to strike every minute, hour, day, and WEEK to get a block (that week one was the last block I collected). The game's pace is really dull since you set it on your own, and depending on the person you can either be compelled or perplexed. Either way, it's hard to turn that little guy with his epic fez down.
In conclusion, FEZ is a blast to play. And despite a bit of a lack in story or pace, it's the curiosity of it all that keeps you playing.
