I wanted to enjoy this game, the visuals are pretty and the atmosphere is there, but the gameplay is honestly no better than the original. Despite being a remake, it re-makes little other than level designs and makes puzzles an even bigger chore to solve. Not only that, but the hitscanning enemy AI from the original is still here, complete with annoying visual effects so your screen rattles while being shot at by marines. Also, those guys never miss and take near enough full MP5 clips to kill.

If you've played the original countless times a lot of these level design changes are quite infuriating.

Ultimately the fact the combat feels really unsatisfying is what kills this remake for me. You know you've got a big issue on your hands when the gunplay is worse than the original games'. Half-Life didn't have the best gunplay, but atleast it didn't feel totally underwhelming to shoot majority of your weapons.

Pretty, good atmosphere, bad gameplay.

Poorly optimized and on the unity engine. That's all you need to know.
