It's fun, but bad players get rewarded for being bad very easily. No amount of skill or knowledge of game mechanics will save you from random events. It's an environment that rewards large teams handsomely, and punishes solo players relentlessly and without mercy. They call it "open world" but don't be deceived, this game is designed to be played a specific way and if you don't play it the way the developers like, it is grueling and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ unless you have a crowd of friends, or a pirate legend or two who has your back.

Destructive random encounters do NOT "even the playing field". THEY STACK THE ODDS. If this isn't an instance of "game developers who never play their own game" I don't know what is.

I had a lot of fun playing this one and it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks that they are shutting down. Very cool idea for a game. There are different ways to play depending on your preference. Definitely going to play some more before September 27th.

Fun game, but it's definitely not for everyone, especially considering the current state of development. There are pathfinding issues with the zombies, they can run through/under buildings. Items can be very hard to see if you aren't paying close attention. Updates come at a somewhat regular interval. There is a stable branch of the game, and an experimental. So if you have the patience for it DayZ can be very rewarding. Don't get discouraged if you can't find any loot. Move INLAND AWAY FROM THE COAST after you spawn and you will be more well off.

Hours of good fun. Recruit a 'warband' over time, do quests, raid villages, fight battles. Even become king!
