What can I say that hasn't already been said?

A classic. A masterpiece in visual art and storytelling.

The gunplay is meh but isn't the focus. I personally prefer HL1 but this one is more important due to the source engine's legacy.

Very addictive and well done game. I am not really into most of these craft and wait until it is finished games, but in this game you can always be finding other things to be crafting or upgrading or collecting whilst you are waiting. Then go out and fight and explore and collect more resources. Really well done and I keep coming back to doing this game over and over. I recommend this game.

I've played this game 40 times in my entire life. First on ps2 and then on ps3, now on a computer. This is the best game of its kind and I love it. But such a legendary game has its own nuances.

Advantages:

+ Addictive gameplay.
+ Lots of content and decent replayability.
+ The best bosses in the series. Both in design and in the battle process.
+ Nice visual design.
+ The right balance between action and suspense inherent in past games in the series.
+ Interesting plot. Since RE2, the protagonist has matured a lot, which is an interesting game of contrasts. In many ways, this is a great merit of the voice actor Paul Mercier.

Disadvantages:

- There are few puzzles and they are too easy. Not that they were complicated in the previous parts, but in the four they were too simplified.

- The final third of the game is prolonged, and some of its episodes (beginning of Chapter 5-1, Chapter 5-4) should have been cut out.

- Despite the fact that the publication is positioned as an HD version, it is impossible to look at the resolution of textures in the castle without tears, although good work has been done in other places. And if in the main game, the cutscenes look normal, then in the campaign for the second character they were transferred without changes from the very first port.

- Many of the game's plot elements are sorely lacking in backstory and additional explanations. For many questions, the game simply does not provide any answers.

✔ Despite all its flaws and controversial points, RE4 is still a great game to return to every time. Let's hope that the upcoming remake will correct the flaws of the original, and make the pluses more visible.
