Elden Ring. I don't think there has been a game that was capable of captivating me like this game has. Even while I'm not playing this game, I am thinking or discussing about this game. I think something that Elden Ring has done really well is scale and introducing it to the player. Whenever I think to myself that this game is huge it just gets bigger and bigger. Even when I got the full map, I still manage to find random caves, shacks and even random overworld bosses all around the map. I don't play a lot of open world games but this would definitely hold the top spot for a long while. Definitely my pick for GOTY 2022.

tldr,
This game is great. Its honestly my favourite game of this year. Get it and you won't regret it.

This is a game that scratches many itches for me. I mean a deckbuilding rougelite card battler with great music and graphics as well as excellent story and world building? Sign me up.

Possible Spoilers Ahead

The game is split into 3 acts which all have unique gameplay and graphics. My favourite gameplay act was definitely act 1 as I felt that it was extremely fun playing around with the different mechanics to try and whip up the craziest combo for a run. I personally feel that even without it being a part of the story it can act as a standalone game.

Act 2 stands as my favourite looking act and reminded me alot of an old pokemon tcg game on the gameboy colour or duel master games. I especially enjoyed this act as was alot of fun crafting different decks and playing with different synergies. This is also the act where most of the characters of the game are introduced.

Act 3 was focused on combining the deckbuilding aspect of act 1 and the gamplay mechanics of act 2 and was relatively fun but I had more fun in the other acts. Towards the end we are able to interact with all the different scribes towards the end of their lives and it really allowed me to appreciate how much thought has gone into them.

All in all this was honestly a very well done, perfected game for me and I recommend this game to anyone who is interested.

This game is great!

Excellent art style and story telling. Gameplay was simplistic but not tedious with side missions that are extremely comedic in nature. The main story really keeps you going with the way it is told and the side quests keep you extremely engaged. I manged to complete it in one session but played additional to get 100% achievements. The pickpocket mini-game is a novelty and I like that they added the option to disable it.

There is no better word to describe A Long Way Down other than lack luster.

Gameplay is incredibly boring and repetitive, and its a shame too as the concept seemed like it would work on paper. The game tries to be way too complex and simple both at the same time. With combat being a loop of buff, debuff and attack until your enemies die with very little variety. Enemy designs are also very scarce. The overall puzzle aspect of the game seemed fresh at first but after awhile felt very gimicky. At first I thought the dungeon master playing slabs from your hand was abit cool but later seemed to be a huge annoyance instead. There are also some slight issues with UI which could have been design better. One such problem is when picking up a pile of slabs where pressing 'x' does not auto collect the tiles but also does not prompt a confirmation that the tiles are being thrown away which caused some confusion. The team based aspect of the game seems to be slapped on just for the sake of it and didn't feel cohesive to gameplay as I see myself playing mostly as the character I have buffed the most. Being able to change your deck and equipment only at specific points on the map makes no sense in this sort of game as it deters me from trying out different playstyles on the go or when I get a new card.

There is not much for me to say about the art as its a preference but to me I think some of the art styles clash between the combat and over-world. Music on the other hand was horrendous as I turned if off after 20 minutes of playing.

I would probably try to finish this game for the achievements but overall I would not recommend this game to anyone. Even for diehard fans of the genre.

Evan's Remains is a very linear puzzle platformer game that has a decent story and some fun puzzles. Graphics are quite pretty and music is great. The best part of the game was the story which was like unwrapping multiple layers. The only grime I have about this game is that there is an achievement that requires changing the game language which although is a decent easter egg, it caused some confusion and made me restart my first run on accident because I cant read spanish. Overall: 7/10

Fun but short game.

Very simple gameplay with fun side quests and simple puzzles but has a very lacking combat system. I personally enjoyed the questing aspect of the game as quests are simple and well designed. The combat however leaves a lot to be desired. The dodge roll/trip is not very well done and in certain situations it is possible to be stun locked or one shot without anyway to fight back. Collectibles are easy to obtain.

The Game would be better with more depth and a better combat system.

Overall, I like this game alot. This game has an extremely smooth combat system and gameplay system. I really enjoyed the story too, so far completed the first character and I'm hoping to finish the second character soon. It also has a diverse skill tree which is too complicated to read through but it basically means if you upgrade anything you get stronger. It also has a NG+ mode which doesn't add much but is still fun to destroy all previous bosses with full upgrades.

Some parts of this game however are not as well executed. Such as the level design and progression. The levels are very simple and get repetitive and the enemies have to be cleared at each part of the level which seems like a chore at times. The start of the game is also flooded with intrusive tutorials which broke the momentum of gameplay more than a couple of times. There are also various aspects of this game which are very unpolished. Halfway through my playthrough, I found out about the minimap system of the level you are currently in which looked abysmal and littered with what looks to be placeholder art. This feature also felt redundant due to the small spaces that each level consists of and I feel like it would have been better to leave this portion out.

TLDR: Great combat system and story but weighed down heavily by poor world building, level design and UI.

I'd rather play Diablo III but the small enemies which gather to form a mini big guy was cool and the first boss fight was the only engaging part of the game so far
