This is the game sad old folks at casinos think they are playing when they tell you how fun slots are.

A fun city-puzzler with more depth than appears at first glance.

Book of Hours is already the best of the Sunless/Secret Histories games. I am nine hours into the Hush House and I know it has its hooks in me.

++The game has finally embraced its literary nature by being chill. Its not without tension, or spooks, or pressure, but it is always chill in terms of letting you read and process all the weird and wonderful words before you go back to the game.

++ The mechanics are much more highlighted so you do not need to do out-of-game reading to play competently, which is a huge improvement on every game all the way back to Sunless Seas. The last thing I want to do is tab out to read meta guides just to advance, and I may choose to do that by the end of BoH, but I absolutely do not feel the need to.

++ The objects are very interactive in a sensical way. It is not very often you will get something and have *no idea* what to do with it, and if you get something and do have an idea, it will probably work.

- The soundtrack is very sparse so far and quite a few songs/sounds have been reused, which is fine but the only major negative. Its gonna be a podcast/second screen kind of game for many people so Im not hard on it, but its worth mentioning as the only flaw.

A city builder that is actually fun, makes believable and beautiful cities, and is actually both challenging for all skill levels and replayable? 10/10
