I wanted to like this game so bad, the art style and overall concept of this game feels right up my alley. I remember watching friends play this game back when it was first released and really wanting to buy it, but having other things take priority at the time. After finally convincing myself to get through the game, I deeply regret it.

The PC port of this game is awful, I image you might have an easier time with things if you're playing on a controller with an era-appropriate monitor. But like all first person action games, I used a keyboard, mouse and a nice modern monitor. Getting the game running well was a nightmare of messing with ini files and having to edit my mouse settings outside of the game because of how poorly the in-game sensitivity was handled. Even once the game would run fine, that didn't help the controls.

There was almost never a point in the entire runtime of this game where I felt like I was entering a flow state while moving through the world with the (theoretically) cool move set the games provides to you. I found myself trying to solve puzzles with wall-running where ever I could, as it felt like the coolest movement tech to me. There were multiple times throughout the game where I would try over and over to wall run to an object I could obviously reach, but because the game isn't that flexible, I had to go about finding the much less interesting intended solution. The few moments of flow state game play were few and far between, sandwiched between slow and clunky ledge maneuvering and some of the worst combat I've ever experienced in a game.

Mirror's Edge's story was interesting, but too predictable in the end. Just before the 'big reveal' story moment, I felt like the game was teasing a really interesting story direction, but almost immediately after, I realized I had thought too hard, and the game was not going to make do anything all that clever. The art & animation for the cut scenes that break apart major parts of the game were great tho, even if their age is showing a bit.

I remember the praise this game got at release, I remember watching friends play it and thinking "wow that looks awesome", and I still see people to this day talk about this game as if it were a lost gem. I went in expecting to finally experience the cult classic I had always wanted to get around to, but pushing my way to the end of this game started to feel genuinely torturous.

A beautiful, charming game. Chalk full of secrets. There are a few frustrating moments, but they pale in comparison to how much I enjoyed learning and mastering this game.

This game rides a tight line between feeling old and feeling new. I think the designers did a really good job of being faithful to the story, the atmosphere, and the core maze-like design and progression in System Shock 2023. A few minor quality of life features were missing to make this the perfect blend for my liking, but this is so well executed that it doesn't frustrate me too much.

Hollow Knight is one of the best games of the decade. You should buy this game if you are interested in...

1.) A vast, and beautiful world that, even when you think you've seen it all will continue to sprawl out and show you more.
2.) A challanging, but increadably rewarding combat system that pushes you and your abilities to the limit..
3.) A beautiful visual and musical style that will never stop amazing you.

Hollow Knight is a game all about progression. A metriodvania, with a 2D world with closed off paths that you can back-track through once you've upgraded your move set. The worst thing about Hollow Knight is it starts slow, and my initial issue was that I lost interest a few hours in, but push past that. Keep. Playing. Explore everything, keep getting better at combat, talk to NPCs, piece together the story and lore of Hollownest, I promise the pay-off is worth while. So please, give it a shot.

A few negatives, because no game (especially a game that's money to content ratio is unbelievable) is perfect.

1.) The game starts slow, and it isn't impossible to get lost, you need to have patients early on, and not everyone can do that.
2.) The combat system is amazing, but it takes a while to reach it's full potential, and some of the bosses have some cheasy attacks that will negate parries, have attacks that result in something teleporting on-top of you (leading to unavoidable damage), and a few attacks in the late-game that I never felt the hit-box was consistant on.
3.) The back-tracking works really well for most of the game, you get to know Hollownest well, but in my quest for 106%, I ended up needing Google for a few things that I missed, because re-exploring the entire map would've taken ages.

All of those negatives out of the way, this is most fun I've had out of a 2D game since Cave Story. Putting it right among the top of my favorite games of all time.

I've tried a few MOBAs, but hundreds of hours into LoL, and think that DotA 2 still stands as the best MOBA. It's got a steep learning curve, and will take you hundreds of hours to make you feel half-way average at, but once you understand the inner workings of the game, it's a lot of fun. It still shares flaws with other MOBAs, someone is always over powered. Lag will always ruin your game, right a long with bad teammates and people who put English pref, but can't speak a word of english. That being said, it's still an amazing game, and one of my all time favorites. 10/10

Spelunky, what can I say about this game that hasn't already been said. It's a roguelike game that sends you through 4 different main areas, each containing 4 stages. There is also a secret second end game with another 4 levels, as well as more secret levels with just one stage. The game has a large variety of items, and a larger variety of out comes, you'll have a run were there's money everywhere, you're finding jetpacks and bombs left and right, and you'll have playthroughs were you fall into spikes on 1-1, the game just keeps giving you surprises. And the acheavements, oh the achevements. They keep you playing until you have them all. There is so much more I could rant on about on this game, but just keep in mind, you will die, and you will die a lot. For any help, ask the people over at http://www.reddit.com/r/rspelunky for help, and enjoy your Spelunking!

This is a short, fun game that is fun to screw with, and challenge you're self with. A great game with a legacy that will live on. I also strongly recommend Portal 2, for even more great story line and challenges. The cake is a lie 9/10

This is great game, with similar mechanics as Minecraft but while still offering an entirely new feel. You can play this for hours, and the fun continues with multiplayer.

This is a fun, interesting and surprisingly ballanced game. great game to play with your friends (as all Valve games are) and it's worth it to upgrade from free to play.
