Early Reaction: "Yeah, it's roguelike poker, so what?"
First Play: "Okay, I can see how this can be fun..."
Most Recent Session: "It's what o'clock? I have to be up for work in the morning!"

It's fun. It's addicting. It has that "one more game" factor. Pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

Six months in at the time of this writing and here's my thoughts:

Pros:
- Infinitely better netcode than SFV at launch
- World Tour mode is a fun distraction and a nice addition to the Final Fight/Street Fighter lore
- Battle Hub is a good spin on the feeling of going to the arcade and sitting down at a cabinet
- Training mode is definitely useful for both old and new players alike
- Finding matches is quick and easy, with minimal downtime.

Cons:
- Forced playthrough of World Tour to unlock costumes is a grind and a half if you don't want to open that wallet.
- They seem really intent on trying to cram Modern controls down your throat in WT, even if you want to stick with Classic mode.
- Six months in and we're just now getting Outfit 3 for the characters?
- Capcom corporate seems to be intent on shoveling in every bit of microtransactions they can on the avatar side of things, and collaboration costumes have been exorbitantly priced. If they want the fans to spend, give us more costumes for the regular characters.
- Slow rollout of additional characters is a bit of a drag.

Overall, though, the game is a worthy successor to the Street Fighter lineage, and very newbie friendly. Worth picking up if you're just getting into fighting games, or if you're an old pro.

If you:
  • Can name that tune in one note
  • Ever dialed into a BBS
  • Remember the days of trying to figure out how to play a game you *ahem* acquired, without a manual
  • Dig Zachtronics logic puzzles (and solitaire games)
this game will be right up your alley.

There's some hard nostalgia bait here for anyone who grew up during the early days of the Internet, and a couple of the minigames are maddeningly obtuse until you figure out their gimmick, but for every one of those, there is an equally chill game like the two solitaire options, or the model building sim STEED FORCE (*cough*GUNDAM*cough*).

Definitely recommended for anyone who recalls the days before the Eternal September, avid Zachtronics fans, or puzzle-loving masochists.

Early Access Review
What basically amounts to a Castlevania-themed mini-game hits that addictive gameplay loop in just the right spot. If you get a good run going, you can play for a LONG time. If you get screwed by the drops in the early game, well, sucks to be you, either tough it out or wipe and start over. It's not like you'd be wasting more than a couple minutes. Well worth the purchase price, I've recommended this game to all of my friends.

Love the aesthetic, love the vibe. Haven't played that long so I'm still not quite used to the controls - they feel a bit floaty, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. A fun game to chill out with.

A roguelike with actual story progression and skill based gameplay? Yep. Do yourself a favor - pick it up, learn it, play it. You'll love it.

"Sci-Fi Ninjas in Space" is the common one-line description you'll see of Warframe. But it's more. It's so much more. What looks like a generic 3rd-person F2P shooter has buckets of content behind it. The opening of the game is going to be rough for any new Tenno, but if you can find a friend to help guide you through the rough spots and get you into the beginning of the story line, a whole universe opens up, with a rich back-story behind it.

The game has been through massive changes since I originally wrote this review, and I felt it needed an update. You can now build your own war ship, and in coming months you'll be able to take it out of the dry-dock into space and literally attack the space pirates and other entities that plague the system. They just keep adding so much more to this game! Find a friend that plays and have them help you through the start, because it's so beyond worth it!

Quite possibly the best installment in the series, barring Origins (which I haven't played yet). Sure, Unity and Syndicate improved on some things here and there, but this one has pirates. Pirates, man! You can't pass that up. Not to mention, it's relaxing as hell to just cruise around on your ship and listen to your crew belt out shanties. Beyond that, the other chunks of the game are formulaic AC rehashes - climb the tower, icon splooge on your map, go clear up the map, run the missions, next map - but the piracy part makes up for those shortcomings. Get the basic version on sale, and you'll thank yourself for it.

Visuals that are both trippy and retro. Game play that came right out of the NES playbook. This game is a classic love letter to the Metroid games of old, and should be on any fan's play list.
