Absolutely based procedurally-generated game with lightweight footprint. Larvely.

No meaningful tutorial (training track ghosts are locked behind paywall AFAICT) and thus learning how to deal with goofy s**t they added since TMN(U)F (ice, bobsled, and the unstable reactor boost to name just a few) are grindy and painful.

Royal is a low-effort, cheap rehash of community maps which are often buggy (fine, have buggy maps in optional, unrated online experiences but not baked-in as an 'official' gamemode). Netcode is also atrocious.

No quick way to exit the game (another d**k UI/UX decision) - you are forced to return to the main menu by spamming ESC past the track select, mode select screens - this is a deliberate choice aimed at maximising engagement. Exit to Desktop should be presented on the first tap of ESC.

Edit: Ubisoft Connect has very little to add to the game experience and is bloated and poorly-designed in terms of both UX and responsiveness. Why it's mandatory I don't know. What a load.

Some mods are available to cut down certain assets for performance etc. but I'm not faffing with them all just to end up in a marginally less user-abusive position.

Overall, disappointing - back to TMNF I guess...
