Each patch adds more game breaking bugs and crashes on top of the old ones, and now I'm sick of pretending is fine.

I'll change this review once they address all those issues (most likely in over a year)

EDIT 3th May 2024: They're forcing players to make a PSN account despite it wasn't forced for 3 months after release. Most of the players can't even make a PSN account because is banned in their country. Looks like my review ain't gonna be changed to positive anymore.
If this change goes through, AH and Sony can go ♥♥♥♥ themselves. Bait and switch garbage.

Another good game that requires friends to be enjoyed otherwise is just a free for all deathmatch game. I don't know what "friends" are, so I don't see myself playing this game in the future.

There's nothing procedurally generated in this game. It's the same thing, with the same characters, played with different orders, and I'm pretty sure that if I play the game all over again, I'll see the same scenes again with the same order. Game is mid.

"What we’re hoping to do with Overwatch 2, is really redefine what a sequel means."
-Jeff Kaplan, 2019

"Overwatch is a team vs team, 6v6 competitive experience. And there's NO WAY we're losing that at all!"
-Jeff Kaplan, 2019

No wonder why Papa Jeff left the company...
His vision of Overwatch 2 has been completely destroyed.

This is not Overwatch 2. This is just Overwatch 1: The Crippled Edition.

The main reason this game was called Overwatch 2, was the announced and overly advertised PvE missions, with the new hero skill trees, customizable abilities and hero progression, and then after over 3 YEARS of waiting, basically everything PvE related that was announced in this trailer was cancelled*.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZl1yGUetjI
*(except the barebone "story" missions that are just 10 minutes long, with no replayability at all, and that you even have to PAY 15 bucks to play them)

On top of that, as an excuse for "working" for all the cancelled stuff, they left in the dust the original game with 3 years of no content at all, because "they were focusing on making the sequel".
So, what they added in the "new" game after these 3 years of no content?
  • A Battle Pass instead of Loot Boxes
  • The worst scummy monetization system I've ever seen. Literally everything has to be paid now, including 7+ year old skins that cost 19 euros each.
  • 5v5 instead of 6v6 (which means a hero balance way more broken than before)
  • Only 3 new heroes (a rate of 1 hero per year)
  • 6 new maps (but they also REMOVED 5 maps)
THAT'S IT! What was the point of the "2" in the title then?
Is literally the same game as 2016, but with even less stuff than before.
  • Player levels? Gone
  • Medals? Gone
  • End game cards? Gone
  • "Looking for Group" feature? Gone
  • On-fire system? Gone initially, and re-added later as a "new content" (L.M.F.A.O.)
  • 2CP mode? They had no idea of how to balance it, so they just removed it from the core game entirely.
Oh yeah, almost forgot. NEW HEROES ARE LOCKED BEHIND THE BATTLE PASS!!!
Imagine a game were switching heroes is part of his core gameplay, but you can't pick a specific hero that may be useful in that moment, because you haven't unlocked it. How stupid that sounds? Well, Blizzard thought it was a good idea.

You want to play the new hero instantly? Buy the pass and you'll unlock it right away.
You don't want to buy the pass? Then be ready to grind like hell, because you have to reach level 45 (out of 80!) of the BP to unlock the hero!

As this wasn't enough, who bought the original game in 2016 and spent thousands of hours like me, has no choice but stop playing entirely or being stuck playing this hell of a mess with extremely predatory monetization, because they SHUT DOWN the original game despite saying that OW1 and OW2 were going to be playable together**, so there's no way back.
How's that even fair?

All those bad decisions, led to this moment were they CRAWL to Steam and ask Gaben to save their dying game and hoping something will change.

Company of clowns.

Dear Toys for Bob,

- Forcing the player to make the same level dozen of times just for completing it, doesn't make the game fun.
- Placing the crates outside the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ view and hidden behind props, doesn't make the game challenging and break the flow of the game because I have to stop every 5 seconds to check every inch of the map.
- Spamming tons of enemies and crates through the entire level, doesn't make the game hard but just frustrating.
- N.Verted maps are literally the same thing but with an Instagram filter. They're boring, useless and the proof of lack of ideas.

Stick with trilogy remakes and let make new games to someone else.

Buy it if you want to enjoy a good story and atmosphere, but gameplay wise this game is just way worse of City and Knight.
Clunky and repetitive fighting and tons of backtracking. Also, very few segments (almost none) were flying is mandatory, and most of the time you just run through small rooms and tight corridors. Few open spaces.
At least, the Riddle trophies were easy, so I just 100% the game and I don't have to play it ever again.

I wasted 10+ hours just to beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of Riddler. Totally worth it.
