the obscenely popular game is actually good enough to warrant being obscenely popular this time around

I'm giving this a positive rating even though I have a lot of problems with it, as it's free and there are still some things I appreciate about it. Many of the new weapon models have a high level of fidelity and change in aesthetic that both jarringly contrast with the environment, and a good couple of the new enemy models have this problem as well. I'm not the first person to mention the Half-Life HD model pack by Gearbox and I definitely won't be the last. A lot of DUSK's original models were ugly, but they were charmingly ugly and all fit the game's look very cohesively.

It's not entirely bad. There are a few standout enemy models I quite like, the scarecrows and fork maidens in particular come to mind. The higher (but not TOO much higher) level of detail in some of the environments looks quite nice, and there are some areas I even prefer to the original. Thinking about the square pipes (squipes) in Steamworks.

I can't ask the creators to do this idea over again with a stronger focus on visual consistency, so instead I'll just plead for the addition of an HD Toggles menu so that players can pick and choose what they do or don't want to get the HD treatment. If I could have more polygons on those squipes (square pipes) while keeping the good old DUSK rats intact, I would have nothing but praise to sing for this pack.

I bought this game back in January of 2014 and to this day it's one of the best purchases I have ever made.

If you like Rainbow Six: Siege, buy Intruder. You will almost definitely like it more.
If you TRIED to like Siege but couldn't, also buy Intruder. It's what you wanted in the first place.

Setting up a server and playing with friends is recommended. As with any multiplayer game, pubs are a gamble. I've yet to see a cheater, but I have come across a couple micscreamers and toxic players. That has no bearing on the game itself, and the player rating system can generally cast light on who's a good egg and who's going to try to teamkill you. There are plenty of certified cool dudes in the playerbase, so it isn't a huge caveat. Plus, you can adjust other players' mic volume.

Get Intruder and remember to beware the peel.

Still one of the greatest games ever made. It has quite a few flaws, but the good outweighs the bad to such a degree it seems like the bad doesn't even exist.

I always come back to Lordran every now and again, and it's awesome every time.
