For what it's worth, this game does what it wants to do compentently; the combat is heaps better than the previous installments, with enemy types and AI being used to good effect now, and the survival mode was actually improved based on fan input, which is a good sign as it seems that devs barely listen to us nowadays.

The thing is though, some sacrifices had to be made, and that unfortunately includes the role playing aspect the series is known for. The skill system is gone, and along with that the ability to really assume the person of your character due to them now being voiced.

However like I said, the action is decent and the world is quite detailed with numerous random events and pre-war stories all over. The companion affiliation system is also better, however silly some of their likes/dislikes may be, and is less prone to fault unlike New Vegas.

tl;dr :
For an action/adventure shooter (ie. Far Cry), this game is alright. 7/10
as an RPG however, it gets a 4. If you want an RPG, get Fallout 3 instead. If you really want Fallout, get New Vegas.

In all seriousness tho: Fun times, they really put a lot of heart into living up to the first; you spend more time here than the first game, which is good (for me at least) since the first game never made me want to stop. Serial escalation in all aspects, namely the difficulty and the creativity. They also tried out for the quadrillion playable characters. Oh, and the soundtrack would give anyone a raging erection, kinda like the first one.

The level editor's pretty fun too

While this pack breathes new life into the AK series (a welcome change especially with the CAR-4 around), some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiot still thinks achievement locking is still necessary even though we already bought this pack

So unless you've got a well oiled crew/got the time to do ♥♥♥♥♥♥-ass achievements again, I can't recommend this pack
At least you got the damn minigun in the overkill pack
