16+ Years of Team Fortress 2 (2008-2025)
How it started ?
I love video games since my childhood, I started playing at the age of 5 on the good old PSOne. I have played many games (from Crash Bandicoot to Gran Turismo to GTA to Ratchet & Clank...) for countless hours. But in 2005, I have discovered computers and the internet in general. Someone in my family introduced me to a PC game called "Counter Strike", it was a pirate copy but I was able to play with bots and have lot of fun. On top of that, I discovered a copy of Half-Life in the file directory but I gave less attention to that game (unlike today). Over time, I have managed to mod CS with skins and maps on Gamebanana, just making the game more fun for the small kid I was.

How I discovered TF2 ?
One day in 2006, I was exploring a video game website and I stumbled by curiosity on a game that looked fun : Team Fortress 2. I was watching the 4-minutes trailer that was introducing the classes with old beta gameplay and at this moment, I was like "I want to play this game !". This is only in 2008 that I managed to get a copy of the Orange Box as a gift (I was 12) and I was finally playing Team Fortress 2 for the first time !

Why is my account from 2010 ?
I've been playing on Team Fortress 2 since February 13th, 2008, and yet you will notice this account is from 2010. This account here was my "second account" because my first Steam account was hacked in 2010 and when I retrieved it, it was VAC banned. Sadly, nothing was done to fix the issue and I had to stay on that account ever since. We didn't had a tough account security unlike today back in 2010. Don't believe me ? Take a look at the links below :

- My first Steam account :

Old memories from the game
- My first legitimate hat was the Fancy Fedora that I managed to obtain by item drop. The little kid I was back then was super happy haha. Then I got another one by crafting 3 refined.
- My first major update was the Scout Update. I haven't played TF2 during the Heavy Update, Pyro Update and Goldrush Update, but I was following these updates at that time.
- I have obtained a Cheater's Lament... but one day I did have tried that script that run the game unopened to get item drops and I never got anything anyway haha. Only let it run for 10 minutes and never tried it again.
- I have played in the Demoman team during the WAR! Update.
- One day, I have dropped an Ambassador level 0 but accidentally scrapped it.
- One of my deepest regret was to buy Mann Co. Keys instead of one of the exclusive Japan themed hats from 2011.
- I have known the Mann Co. Keys market at 2.33 refs each.
- My first Unusual unboxed was a Demoman pirate hat with an End of the Line' unusual effect.
- I have played with Mecha the Slag (now known as MekuCube, who created A Hat in Time) when he was making custom TF2 gamemodes.

Best Crafts/Unboxes/Loots
- Molten Mallard Buccaneer's Bicorne (with EOTL event tag)
- Bubbling Defiant Spartan
- Air Raider 99#
- Crafted Stock Knife (during a massive crafting glitch when Gun Mettle launched)

- Australium SMG (Tour 12)
- Australium SMG (Tour 17)
- Professional Medi Gun Kit (Tour 26)
- Galactic Connection Roar O'War

Why am I stopping TF2 ?
I genuinely love this game, I have seen so many updates and new content over the years. This game is truly a masterpiece in multiplayer games. But now, the game isn't fun to play anymore. The only time I enjoyed TF2 from 2021-2025 was on friendly servers like LazyPurple. In the last few years, I strongly avoided playing PvP games because I was getting tired of the cheaters & toxicity, and TF2 was no exception. I don't expect Valve to do much more for this game now, which is why I'd rather cash out and leave this game aside for now (unless something happens). This game has been a fun journey but today, I have other horizons to explore. Personal projects, life goals and other games.

Instead of wasting your time and money on this "game", here's a recipe for a Black Forest cake (or the Portal cake).

Chocolate Cake:
- 1 3/4 cups (250g) all-purpose flour, sifted
- 2/3 cup (65g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) neutral oil, such as canola or vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240 ml) buttermilk
- 1 cup (240 ml) hot water

Cherries and Cherry Syrup:
- 1 cup drained, canned cherries
- 1/4 cup Kirsch, or another cherry liqueur
- Cherry juice from canned cherries (drain cherries and reserve the juice)

Whipped Cream Frosting:
- 3 cups (720 ml) heavy cream, cold
- 1/2 cup (58g) powdered sugar, sifted

Optional Decorations:
- 200g/7 oz. chocolate shavings
- Fresh whole cherries

Instructions
- To make the chocolate cake: Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. Generously butter two 8-inch cake pans that are at least 2-inches high, and dust with cocoa powder, tapping the ramekins slightly to remove any excess.
- In a large bowl, place flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Mix until combined. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, mix together eggs, oil, vanilla, buttermilk, and water (pour the water slowly so it won’t cook the eggs). Whisk until smooth. Add egg mixture into flour mixture and mix until smooth. Don’t overbeat – batter will be lumpy at first, but mix gently and eventually stir with a whisk just until smooth. The batter will be thin and liquid. That’s ok.
- Scrape batter into prepared pans. Bake cakes for 30-35 minutes (depending on your oven – this might take longer), or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool for 10 minutes in the pan before unmolding, then let cakes cool completely on a wire rack. I recommend wrapping the cakes in plastic wrap and refrigerate or freeze them for several hours before cutting them. Cut each cake layer in half horizontally.

To make the syrup: Place drained cherries in a medium bowl, and add to the bowl 1/4 cup Kirsch and 1/2 cup cherry juice from can. Leave to soak at room temperature for 30 minutes or more, then drain cherries in a sieve over a bowl, keeping both the cherries and syrup. Add more cherry juice to the syrup to get 3/4 cup syrup (you won't need the rest of the juice, discard it or save for another use). This will be the soaking syrup for the cake layers.

To make the whipped cream: Using a stand mixer or hand mixer with a whisk attachment, beat heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Read more about making perfect whipped cream here.

Assembly: Place one cake layer on a cake stand or plate and brush with 1/3 of the cherry syrup. Cover top with a thick layer of whipped cream frosting (about 1 cup) and top with 1/3 of the cherries. Repeat twice more with remaining layers and top with the last cake layer (there’s no need to soak the top layer with syrup). Frost the top and sides of the cake with whipped cream. If you want, reserve some of the whipped cream, about 1½ cups, for decorating the top. Use a pastry bag with a large flower tip, and pipe rounds around the top. Top with whole cherries. Cover the sides and top with chocolate shavings, if desired. Store cake in the fridge, covered, for up to 4 days.
