platforming wasn't complete garbage, xen chapters were a little long but far more enjoyable, also while black mesa is possibly too generous when it comes to ammo (especially with the nuclear weapons late game) i prefer generosity to the original game not giving you enough ammo and forcing me to reload previous saves because i ran out of ammo and couldnt progress without dying

shortening of some of the chapters is a bit of a weird choice though and i felt that even with the new hl2 style physics puzzles a lot of the original ones had been dumbed down significantly but there are mods to fix that
