Every game in this collection is an undeniable classic, but the quality of the emulation is garbage. There is no native support for PS4 button glyphs unlike in the Dominus Collection, and the game will crash to desktop if you savestate after around an hour of play - erasing your newly created savestate and costing you an hour or more of progress. The emulator itself is very barebones with minimal customisation options.

The addition of the encyclopedia is very much appreciated, but the lack of a built-in game manual for some of the more cryptic mechanics and inputs, especially in Harmony of Dissonance, is very telling of a publisher who has sold their soul to make pachinko spin-off titles.

This game is absolutely amazing - but has the worst optimisation I've ever seen.

I understand that new games are becoming more demanding and people are expected to upgrade, but this is absurd. I'm aware this isn't the first instance of new games having poor performance on launch, because the same thing happened with World, but it feels inexcusable at this point.

I am by no means saying the game is bad, but in its current state, you should probably consider waiting for a more stable release.

Bought this because I want to support the devs, and by extension, democracy. I need not ask for anything else.

Mordhau is an odd rarity of a game which has had many troublesome design choices that have ultimately led to its slow loss of players. As a newcomer to Mordhau, the experience -- while still including some occasionally fun moments I could not have captured from any other game -- is a very slow and agonising series of defeats with no clear sign of improvement or progression in skill, being constantly dominated by the typical sweaty Ploomer or the Maulester who exploits the already broken mechanics of the game and quite frankly makes the game more cancerous than it should be.

The developers have clearly lost faith and interest in the game, considering the lack of updates (or patches in this case) with a similar approach to TF2, simply adding cosmetics and random bug-fixes for practically useless things nobody really needed to be 'fixed' in the first place. The developers, also having completely forgotten the purpose of Mordhau's die-hard community of talented, and entirely proficient mod developers who had shown an interest in providing any sort of game-mode to help Mordhau grow again.

Mordhau has an extremely toxic and sweaty playerbase, which is slowly leeching off of the casual player-base until their inevitable extinction. The odds of finding any casual player anymore is starting to grow slim, and the fact than an entire region of players is practically gone (OCE), is just saddening, although I do not play in that region.

It was clear to me that a few warning signs popped up in my head when I first played this game, especially since the developers hadn't properly established their target audience -- competitive or casual -- so they simply blended these two vastly different groups together hastily in an attempt to steal the initial following of players and melee slashers at the time.

Despite being developed by some ex-Chivalry players, I was surprised to see that the game had one-of-a-kind netcode that was far more superior than any other triple A game I'd ever seen, and the combat felt quite satisfying. However, after many patches, with many issues arising during this time, there is still an insane amount of exploiting that exists in the game, and it seems like every patch keeps missing the mark and entire flaw and bug of each patch and instead focusing on something incredibly pointless instead to further ruin the game.

TL;DR: Casual players will not enjoy this game, community is very toxic, devs do not pay attention to the core issues of the game. Was popular on release, but is beginning to lose players rather quickly.

EDIT POST EASTERN INVASION: The game has had a surge in players, with some more than adequate content. My opinion still has not changed, however.

It's a great game, although it lacks really any innovative new content.
As a Dawn of War game, it's below-average in quality.
As a Warhammer 40,000 game, it's great.
When it's modded, it's legendary.

But as I mentioned above, the game is very lacking unless you install a mod like Ultimate Apocalypse. If I were to give a mixed option, I would, but there is none. Yet, for UA alone, this makes the game so much better, so I'll lean towards the 'Yes' side of recommending this game. But get UA if you want to feel 40k.
