It would be pretty epic if it let me switch games without killing my stream but it doesn't so it doesn't get a good review from me :(

EDIT: Below is my old review of the game. All my problems with the game have been addressed. The game is much better now and you should absolutely buy it if you can.

First of all, I love this game. Genuinely.
The original Receiver has been on my radar since I saw it crop up on the Steam Greenlight. Once I bought 1, I genuinely enjoyed it as a whole. I thought that, for what was effectively a tech demo, it was a fantastic package that I thoroughly enjoyed. I didn't hop on often because it was such a bare bones experience, but when I did, I loved it.

Receiver 2 is a much better, more concise game that built upon the original. Everything about it is better than Receiver 1. The lore is fleshed out, the mechanics are tweaked to a perfection, and the gameplay is much more immersive and enjoyable. Most people don't like the rank system with how it fluctuate based on loss, but I've learned to not take mind with it. It makes sense contextually with the story and it's not that big of a problem overall to the gameplay.

However, there is 1 fatal problem with Receiver 2, and is the only reason why I do not recommend this game at all until it gets fixed:
Anytime the game crashes, you lose absolutely every bit of progress you've made since you started that session. All the tapes, notes, any level increases. All wasted. Gone. And the game crashes enough for this to be a genuine serious problem with the game as a whole. Why bother trying to rank up when your game crashes half way through the level and you lose everything. To add salt to the wound, the only way to save your game is to exit. HOWEVER, when you exit the game, it demotes you a rank, which incentivises you to stay Rank 1 forever. It's a total toss up between losing all the progress you've made such far, including tapes, floppies, all ranks etc OR leaving the game, saving your progress at the cost of all the effort you put in to the previous rank.

It's so bad that it makes this game flat out unfun.

I love this game and I love everything about it, but it needs these crashes to be fixed for it to be enjoyable. The game needs to not punish players for wanting their progress to remain saved. My personal recommendation would be to not reset the level when you leave, but to just save the level state as is, including player location, ammo count, tape count, enemy states, etc and just return everything where it was prior to leaving the game. That way, you can't just savescum your levels, but it doesn't punish the player for wanting to ensure their tapes are all destroyed in the event of an unfair crash.

Overall, great game with a glitch that, when combined with the demotion mechanic, completely ruins the game. Do not buy until this issue is fixed. Once the issue is fixed though, please give as much money and support to this game as possible. Minus the gamebreaking crash, the game is incredible and worth your time entirely.

A game that started off as a pretty good multiplayer shooter that used to be fun. However the influx of e-sports kids have influenced the game to be basically CS:GO but with gadgets and destruction physics.

Ubi has clearly ran out of ideas for Siege since Outbreak and this game has lost the vision it once had.

Unwanted reworks of popular/fan-favorite maps to be more "viable" for ranked/pro-league, adding operators who's gadgets are clearly unrealistic (there's a difference between Jager's ADS as something that could exist in 5 years and a literal hologram that tracks the location of whoever shoots it), and adding operators who clearly don't work within the contextual narrative of counter terrorism (why would a freelance treasure hunter be put on a team of counter-terrorists stopping bomb threats and why would Team Rainbow even hire her?).

In short, Siege Y1-Y2 is comparable to the Team Silent era Silent Hill and anything Y3 past is Konami outsourcing development era Silent Hill. Only difference is that the fans of nu-Siege never knew what Y1-Y2 Siege was like, nor do they probably even know who Tom Clancy is outside of the Splinter Cell games.

edit: it got worse :(

Essential game for anyone who has a Steam account, let alone those who have even a minor interest in tabletop gaming.

From casual/mass market games (Monopoly, Sorry), to traditional games (Chess, Backgammon), Euro, Ameritrash, Wargaming, Party Games, etc, etc, etc. If you can play it on a table, you can play it in this game.

It's a neat game. Like everyone says, it should be gone into as blind as possilbe but it won't blow your mind like how everyone says.
