Full disclosure. Not a fan of Amnesia. One day I'll get into it but right now its too "shock-horror" for me.

Soma however is one of the most thought provoking, well written, subtle games I have experienced in my life, if not then a very long time. The game will leave you reeling even after the credits - literally. Play this game for the story, even if you dont like the hide and seek monster chase gameplay (there's mods to fix that too). I hope you can take my word on this as talking about the story at all is to spoil it.

The only thing I can say against is that during the chase/monster sequences solving puzzles or finding that one item/thing to interact with is extreamly frustrating. However in the end the pacing is almost perfect with high intense action sequences with downtime with exploration and world building.
