I don't play much FPS games these days, but when I do, I typically go for milsim ones and that's what Hell Let Loose is. This isn't a COD or Battlefield style-esque game where you run n gun and achieve 5+ kills in a row, but doesn't mean you can't (just requires more effort). Hell Let Loose requires absolute team work from your own squad to other squads (infantry, artillery, recon, armored) and your commander to win the game. You will die a lot and you will get frustrated, but if you're looking for a realistic WW2 game, then this is it. The devs have worked hard to bring us new maps and factions + consistent updates for smoother gameplay and also even roleplay (esp. for those BoB fans out there).

Nothing is more satisfying than hearing the screams of your enemies dying. The ping from your headshot and seeing their helmet fall off. Or if your team is capable enough, turning the tide of the battle when all seems lost and winning the match. I recommend playing this with your friends and getting a squad together. Now, do your diligence and enlist soldier!

As someone who played the first game years ago and putting in a good amount of hours into this game, I can without a doubt say that this game deserves to be on the list of GOTY for 2024. What's the difference from Helldivers 1 to 2?

The most obvious is that this is not a top down shooter and instead a 3rd Person Shooter with 1st Person combined into it. That's a huge leap in development. The game itself is utilized in real time by being able to see the amount of players actively liberating a planet and the missions per difficulty. Using stratagems (i.e. airstrikes, artillery, etc.) and teamwork is a must if you want to survive because the Game Master "hates" us by making things difficult. I mean that as a joke, but I admire his job to throw some curve balls to make things challenging. Each planet is different in terrain and there will always be different map types despite the same missions/objectives.

The devs have done a great job in responding to bugs and hot fixes by rolling out updates as quickly as possible. I'm excited to see the new content they bring as they constantly tease us with new weapons, items, and stratagems. Whoever their PR person is, they must be doing a great job especially when it comes to sharing memes and videos from dedicated players. Also, big shoutout to the CEO of Arrowhead for being both transparent and humble.

Overall, this game is fun to play with friends and strangers alike so let's keep it that way. It's not something to take serious and the primary purpose of co-op games. So are you doing your part like I am? Remember to fight for Freedom, Justice, and Liberty. Get out there and protect Super Earth!

Early Access Review
The game is still in Early Access so don't expect to go in with a lot expectations or a fully fleshed out game just yet. So far, the devs have done an excellent job in following their road map thus far, with at least one update per month. I played the game from the very beginning and have watched it evolve with more ranks, game modes, weapons, and gadgets. If you're a fan of Starship Troopers, then this is definitely the game for you. I find myself still coming back every now and then when I'm feeling bored and just want to kill some bugs with friends.

There is still more to come as updates keep rolling out and I can't wait. I have also made a few YouTube videos to showcase what to expect from the various game modes as well as the 3 different classes. It is well worth the price and I want to support these devs as much as possible so they can continue to give us quality content and updates. So the question becomes: Are you doing your part? If not, you know what to do...

This game is definitely a huge improvement from the first one in many aspects. Let's start with the obvious one and that is you can pretty much throw just about any object at your enemies (flaming chicken, poop, bread, giant anvil, etc.). The combat system has greatly improved and flows a lot better, but there are definitely some things that can be taken advantage of like "crouch stabbing" that gives you an edge because of the smaller hitbox. The maps are bigger, more detailed, and give you room to move around rather than constantly trying to attack certain lanes. At the same time, it does get a bit "grindy" towards the end since you have certain phases you have to complete for each of them that require a lot of teamwork. Right now, there are a limited number of maps so you will find yourself most likely getting "bored" to a degree after a couple of hours. You will have a lot more fun playing with your friends than playing with randoms like most games, but also if you play enough you will probably run into the same players or familiar faces in the quick matchmaking. Overall, I'd say Chivalry 2 is worth getting especially if you enjoy some medieval hack and slash with limbs flying around.

I've been thinking about writing a review for this game for awhile, but have held back until now. This game had a lot of potential in the beginning by touching on a niche genre like the American Civil War. I enjoyed the era as well as the intuitive shooting, reloading, and other mechanics that made the game feel realistic and yet "arcade-like" at the same time. The artillery pieces were also fun to explore and I spent a good portion of my time with other people on it. The constant updates were nice to see until the devs turned direction towards the Napoleonic-era (which I understand was made by community modders, but still backed in full-force by the main team). I bought the game strictly because I wanted to see the American Civil War since War of Rights wasn't up my alley and I already had my fair share of the Napoleonic-era via the old Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars and currently, Holdfast. Watching the public community slowly die was sad to see and of course, not everyone wants to join a regiment to have fun. Even the regimental events slowly faded because of the lack of cooperation and outright disrespect from some of the community members. With that said, I observed as the lead dev of the game not only acknowledged that their game was dying, but blatantly lied as to why that was the case (before the Napoleonic update, we saw at least a good 130-150 players on a public server and slowly winded down to what it is now). Recently, seeing that same lead dev wish death upon a rival dev of a similar game (or within the same realm) was just unprofessional and seeing people back them up is just shameful. I can't in the right mind recommend this game that not only is "dead" at this point, but is also being developed by someone who lies, manipulates, and talks about "killing" people. Do not waste your money or put this on your wishlist because it is not worth your time or resources. I hope that the dev team of this game realize their mistakes and tries to stop using "dirty" tactics to compete with their rivals. If not, this will be the end for them and I don't want anything to do with their products.

If you played the Left 4 Dead series, then you will most likely enjoy this game. However, it's a game worth playing with your friends because it takes a fair bit of teamwork to get through the campaign as well as the pvp mode (swarm). The replay value is pretty high especially if you have friends who just buy the game so you end up running through the missions again and getting supplies to unlock new cards, outfits, and skins. Be warned, the difficulty level jumps pretty high from recruit to veteran to nightmare. There is no in between and you might find yourself getting frustrated, but that's why it's fun to replay the missions with some challenges (similar to running a COD campaign from recruit to veteran). Another reason the replayability is so high, are the corruption cards that always change the threats you face each time you start a new campaign run. You have to be very flexible in your card deck for buffs as well as the type of weapons you decide to use or the tactics you employ with your friends.

Update (from 2020 and played since 2018): I first wrote my review for this game years ago when I barely joined the community and had a ton of fun just playing here and there. I also joined this game right after the Mount & Blade: NW mod died out. After joining a public reg and putting numerous hours in, I can't within good conscience recommend this game to anyone who wants to keep their sanity.

First, the recent updates seem like a slap to the face for all the people who have played the game since it's conception in 2017. The revamping of all the cosmetics behind "challenges" with some purposely making you into a toxic player (i.e. switching teams on purpose) meaning you need to unlock them well after we were given them for free prior to the new update doesn't fit well with me. The revamping of the achievements when many of us were close to completing them and renaming them under a tier system makes zero sense to me. The whole overhaul of the system to be on par with modern games and audiences like COD or BF seems out of place especially for a game that is already niche as it is.

Second, you will find the community as toxic than ever before. A bunch of incels, attention seekers, and edge lords who think racism, sexism, etc..is so funny that they spout nonsense on both the in-game text chat and on voip. There should be no reason that I have to join the game and press "k" every time to mute the entire server just to enjoy the game that requires communication (even minimal to capture objectives).

As a veteran of this game, I would steer clear from this. I use to enjoy going into events (which has lost its luster and barely keeps afloat) and being in pubs with my friends, but it's not what it once was. Although, I'm grateful to have met a good group of people from this game, there are far more negatives than positives at this point and time. This is the only game that I have encountered so far, whereby many players (incl. myself) have had to take seasonal breaks or mental health breaks due to bullying, toxicity, harassment, and even doxxing.

Many reviews seem to be negative about this game because of the sheer grinding they have to do. Honestly, I went in with an open mind and I love the immersiveness of the game. The environment and the characters plus the music are spectacular. It does seem to be easy and maybe repetitive in the beginning if you aren't a patient person, but I got through it wanting more. It has a similar vibe to Black Desert, which is probably why I enjoyed it. I recommend giving this game a chance and really trying to get into the story. However, it's also a really good F2P MMO for people who love this genre type of gaming.

Hearts of Iron IV is one of those games that consumes your time and takes a great amount of patience. However, it's simplistic nature allows it to be a game that isn't too hard to figure out. The constant uncertainties of what the AI will do plunges you into making decisions that will either be the rise or fall of your nation. This game is worth playing by yourself with many different ways of approaching WWII, but is even more enjoyable when you're conquering the world with a friend (whether you be a Democratic, Indepedent, Communist, or Fascist nation).

Excellent game for people who are into strategy and turn-based games. You get the satisfaction of killing aliens and actually getting attached to your soldiers.
