MGSV is a finished game. It's been 9 years, and if you still can't see through the phantom pain left by "promises unfulfilled", I'm afraid you've missed the point of the story.

"You too have known loss. And that loss torments you still. You hope hatred, might someday replace the pain. But it never goes away. It makes a man hideous, inside and out. Wouldn't you agree?"

Many people say this used to be their favourite game way back when, and I share this sentiment. Sadly the devs kept making one bad decision after another, Robocraft lost popularity, they tried moving on to other projects but every single one of them failed. Eventually they tried to come back to the old Robocraft like the community has been telling them to for literal ages, which is probably the most straightforward project they ever attempted, but even that has failed, leading to the closing of Freejam as a studio, a decade after Robocraft's golden age. If this game wasn't dead before then it well and truly is now.

Early Access Review
The only bone I have to pick with this game are its insane, but probably justified system requirements, thanks to which a significant portion of the steam user base would be stuck with 30 fps. Notice how the recommended spec list calls for a 1080 Ti, a card that is capable of 4k60 gaming, for playing on 1080p. And that wouldn't be such a massive problem if the new graphics cards were more available. Basically, if you have anything above a 1060, I imagine you'd enjoy this game with playable framerates at 1080p. If not, these requirements alone would be enough of a dealbreaker for me to save up for a better card instead.

The main game is the main game, we all know what it's about. But the side stories, they were... therapeutic. Sometimes even touching. Largely thanks to the music, which is responsible for half of the experience. I'm left with a feeling as if I've just read a good book, without even noticing how I have spent 15 hours on it. And frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if I were to find myself re-reading it at some point in the future.

This game hates you, even if you throw money at it.
