Star Wars Battlefront 2 - Review from 500+ hours experience on Origin
You like Star Wars ? A multiplayer experience? This game is surely made for you

After more than 500h on origin, I'm glad to review on Steam one of my favorite multiplayer game.

Often-Asked Questions

  • Is it always pay-to-win ? Well...you might have this opinion because EA has a greedy reputation, but the DICE dev team made great improvements to the progression system and now i can say honestly that there are no items in the game that can be bought that give you an advantage over other players. Even better, with the Celebration edition all the skins (with the exception of those unblockable by challenges) are given !

  • Is there a squad system ? Yes! Up to 4 players in the same squad, you can respawn with each other as close to the front as possible.

  • Can I crossplay multiplayer with other platforms ? The game is actually running on the same servers of Origin, so you are always playing with origin players which is good. But at this point, there isn't crossplay with PS4 or Xbox One versions.

  • Can i synchronize my origin in-game progression to the steam version ? Absolutely, you just need to log in with your origin account the first time you start the game on steam.

  • Is the story mode worth to play ? I guess, the story is OK. I highly recommend it as a very good tutorial to the game mechanics (which are the same in multiplayer). The cinematics are very polished, but don't buy this game if you're only going to do the solo!

  • -How does the progression system work ? As you play, you gain levels on a soldier class, a hero, a ship, a vehicle and that gives you skill points. On each unit, you spend points on unique skill trees that give you bonuses on your units.

  • Are novice players too disadvantaged compared to online veterans ? To be honest, yes. You will play with players lvl 50, 100, 200, even 400 but that doesn't mean the online experience is ruined. Yes, with the leveling-system on battle cards, some units are really op but you can still dominate these veterans players step by step, especially in game modes with a lot of players (max 20vs20). There are many events that give XP bonuses ( x2, x3) and it's good to take advantage of them to gain more levels on your favorite units.


Well... for sure, Battlefront 2 had a very rocky start back in 2017 between the microtransaction controversy and a pay-to-win progression system. Fortunately, the development team at DICE did not give up and offered an avalanche of free content: new locations, modes, weapons, skins, heroes.
At this state of the game, you need to know that there won't be any new content update sadly but if you are new to the Battlefront, you still have hundreds of hours of fun on many maps and modes !

If you want a Star Wars multiplayer experience, this game is definetely for you, if you are just interested ONLY in the solo campaign, i don't think it would be wise to buy it.
