The game is pretty good.
The publisher stinks but they seem to have relented for now.

The gameplay is solid, grappling hook based platforming with some combat.
There's some frustrating portions here and there, but the game doesn't punish you for playing on a lower difficulty (i.e. there's no True Ending for playing on hard)
The story is surprising and good. The writing (or more likely, the translation) has issues here and there but it's nothing that really brings it down. Ended up beating the entire game in a single marathon session because I needed to know.

If you answered yes to the above questions you have some oddly specific wants but this game will cover them all.

Extremely pretty, plays well. A little light on exploration and backtracking for what is otherwise a metroidvania title. It's short (I got the 5 hour achievement without attempting to) but I don't know that I would want it to be stretched out any longer as-is. A bigger sequel, spiritual or otherwise, would probably be nice though.

A suitably fresh take on the automation genre. Includes city planning features without making them too much of the focus. Dumping garbage into the ocean to make more room for cargo docks.

Visually, this game is gorgeous. The combat, when you're fighting regular enemies, is pretty fun and varied.

On the other hand...
The story is dumb. The writing isn't very good, and plot point just sort of happen back to back while characters either state the obvious or refuse to reveal basic information that would defuse ongoing conflicts. The pacing and tone is thrown to the wind as characters who literally just tried to kill you turn around and ask you to hang out between story sections, where they basically go "Hey how is so-and so doing? You're a great guy you know that? No I can't tell you why we're trying to kill you. See you later alright?"
But most of all, the boss fights starting from about part 3 or 4 are just an absolute cluster of garbage, with multiple enemies randomly and constantly attacking with almost no tells, even from offscreen, so all you can really do is tank the damage and chug items and hope enough hits are landing so that the fight ends before you run out.
If you do play this game, make sure to get the skill that removes the item use animation as soon as possible, since that's the only reliable way to get through these fights.

The combat is miserable. The control method is clunky, and the AI attacks relentlessly on any difficulty, leaving you without much opportunity to attack if you're fighting alone.
It's a shame, because the rest of the game is pretty good.

This game just entered early access at the time of this review, so it's pretty short, about half an hour or so. But what's there is a blast to play, so if the current quality level can maintained for a full length game it should be pretty great.

If you're looking for a full game experience *right now*, wishlist this and come back later. But I'm pretty confident it'll be well worth the price of admission in the future.
