Unavoidable damage in a strategy RPG. Even if I move out of AoE indicators I still take damage almost every round. Basic attacks cannot be avoided in any way at all because enemies don't follow the same movement rules that you do. I have a limited amount of movement every turn. Meanwhile if the enemy chooses to hit me with a basic attack they have infinite movement range and can follow me all the way to the edge of the arena to chip at my health.

Extremely bad design choice for a turn based strategy RPG.

A lot of people complaining are missing the entire point of the game. They want it to be like mario maker, and that was never the intention to begin with. They complain that the game encourages builders to make elaborate death traps instead of making "carefree and relaxed maps".

They'll go on to say that these elaborate death traps are impossible or really difficult to beat, when the game gives raiders several different tools to completely cheese everything. The game is not meant to be played like Quake or Doom, it's almost like a puzzle game in disguise.

Raiders have a shield that blocks all damage.
They have deployable domes that block all projectiles and can be shot out of.
They have a grappling hook that can be used to latch on to walls to get away from traps.
The default melee weapon can deflect most projectiles in the game.
They have a deployable respawn beacon.
And best of all, co op players can keep reviving each other as long as one of them stays alive.

The game is actually surprisingly well balanced all things considered. Just don't expect to go into a brutal ranked outpost with the default loadout and expect it to be a cakewalk. Unlock the different tools and use them.

I think a lot of the screeching is carrying over from the DBD community to. Who also, funnily enough complain when they have to rub 2 brain cells together to outplay someone. But that's a different rabbit hole entirely.

The AI literally cheats by waiting for you to make a move before choosing it's own actions to counter you. Allow me to go into more detail. You know how in other turn based roguelikes, it will tell you what the enemy is going to do on that turn so that you can prepare for it and plan ahead. Well it doesn't do that at all here.

The game rolls dice on every turn and you take turns drafting dice to your stats from the same pool that the enemy does. The idea sounds cool on paper. But what actually happens is you'll grab the attack dice and the enemy will grab the best defense dice and negate your damage completely. This goes both ways. Usually if you grab defense the enemy will just start grabbing the best available attack dice in the pool.

There's a stamina system that's supposed to offset this by allowing you to put stamina points into any combat stat you want. But then you run out of stamina constantly with little way to actually recover it unless you get lucky with item drops.

I legitimately don't think anything can be done to fix this as you'd run the risk of making the game too easy by trying to balance it. It's a problem with the very way that the game is designed and there would be no way to fix it without a complete and total rework of the game's mechanics entirely.

What's here isn't entirely bad, it just would have worked better as a normal turn based roguelike rather than trying to go for this weird dice draft gimmick.

It's a metalcore album with a fun game on the side as a bonus.

I got this game for free and I still feel like I got scammed.

The art style is cool, but that's about the only thing it really has going for it. 2 to 3 hours of gameplay for $20 and to be honest it's not even scary. There are better horror games than this.
I seriously don't understand why this has so many positive reviews.

Early Access Review
Devs realized they made a mistake and actually reverted some of the horrible changes in a recent update.

I will now make my review positive again.

Great commentary about how bad it is to live in a communist regime. As an actual game this is absolutely horrible though. The entire gameplay loop is just super sweaty memorization of every single contraband item in the game, how to fill out every single report and blackmail letter perfectly right down to the number assigned to the government directive, as well as date it was issued. Yes, even on blackmail letters to normal civilians when they probably don't know what the actual directive number or date is. Which doesn't make much sense considering a normal person would just write a letter that says "Hey you have an illegal item pay up or I'll report you to the authorities". This would be just tedious and annoying at best if the game actually paused the timer while writing reports or blackmails, but it doesn't do that lol. To top it off you have to make a ludicrous amount of money within the first few days or your daughter dies, and even if you manage to pay the first bill, you just end up paying even more later down the line. The problem is that it's basically impossible to do this without exploiting and sweating the game's systems and basically memorizing everything ahead of time.

I understand the point of this game is to make you feel like you live in a bad communist regime, but they didn't have to sacrifice the actual gameplay to do that.
