WAIT FOR SALE WHEN IT'S 30-40$

It's great when an FPS is marketed as "old school", and it turns out that that tagline isn't just nostalgia bait to snag some pre orders. DOOM is a hell of a time in hell. Everything is ridiculously fast-paced, and the most fun I've had in an FPS Campaign since 2014 with the Wolfenstein reboot. The campaign has quite a few things to do as well, with goals to upgrade weapons, rune challenges, armor upgrades, easter eggs that are original DOOM levels, the list goes on and on.

But notice I've only been saying these things about the campaign.
There are two other things to do in DOOM, and that's multiplayer and snapmap. Multiplayer is essentially a faster clone of Halo multiplayer, so there is a bit of fun to be had, but certainly not something you'll be playing years after launch.
Snapmap has potential, and is a bit too early to comment on at the time, but the creator allows for some quite interesting creations.

Thankfully this time, id did a fantastic job with their PC port. I have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop, and with everything on low I get about 30-35 FPS, so it's well optimized. There are also a wealth of options to get the performance you want. This may still be idtech, but it's not at all as poor a port as RAGE was.

If you buy DOOM expecting a throwback to old FPSs blended with the new, you WILL NOT be dissapointed, but if you buy it expecting the throwback and classic arena multiplayer, you WILL be dissapointed. As it stands, the game is worth the purchase just to experience the fun campaign, but wait for a price drop, as 60 dollars isn't worth the 10 hour campaign.

Buy it for less than 30 dollars ASAP and make sure you don't read any other details about the game, just know you're in for an amazing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

Early Access Review
This is game is quite a bit of fun, I like how you are given freedom as to what to make to accomplish your objective, and the vast amount of creations possible with the tools provided. However, be reminded this is an early access game. The game runs incredibly slow if you have a large machine, however, this is one of the things being fixed right now.
