In the Bible, joy is a deep-seated, spiritual contentment and abiding happiness rooted in a relationship with God, rather than temporary circumstances. It is described as a gift of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22) that transcends suffering and trials, allowing believers to rejoice even in difficult times, as seen in James 1:2 and 1 Peter 1:8-9.
