I finally got here... the end of my adventure, some months ago I started this adventure, i wanted to play all the Ys games on chronological order( Ys 1 and 2, Origin, Memories of Celceta, Oath in Felghana, Ark of Naphistim, Seven and finally Lacrimosa of Dana) and it has been one of my biggest and most amazing experiences in video gaming since my conception.

I know this game has a lot of technical problems, but bad port aside, is one of the most beautiful gems of gaming i've come across, and if you add having played all of the games in order, and have seen Adol growing from a 16 years old boy to a 23 years old man( 24 when Ys IX Monstrum Nox gets localized) is an experience i wish everyone can have.

This game had everything, a compelling story, great character development, even better than other Ys games, the setting on the island and the fact that you are in a small community makes you feel closer to even the secondary characters, it was such a bliss to read everyone stories and see how the main plot affected not just Adol or the main cast, but everyone in Castaway Village, it was such a beautiful experience.

And the gameplay... OMG THAT GAMEPLAY! pure adrenaline! is like you take all of the formulas Ys have used on the other games, Platforming, jumps, party system, even bump combat when you get an item to damage while running! the bosses at the beginning where kind of meh... epic, but nothing special, but the bosses on the second half of the game reminded me of the bosses an Ys game should have!(unlike Celceta...), patterns you have to learn and dodge, epic music, and diverse mechanics that made me turn on my gamer switch! It has been a long time since a game made me all pumped up! (This applies to the entire Ys Series).

Now that i've addressed the gameplay... let’s talk about the music, THE FANTASTIC MUSIC COMPOSED BY TEAM JDK! they've done it again! one of the best music i've ever heard on a videogame, for real, just google "Ys Viii A to Z" "Ys Viii Deadly temptation" or "Ys VIII Iclucia Dance".

The graphics are beautiful, they are obviously not at the level of an AAA title, but they beat any AAA title when it comes to artistic design, the places you visit all make you feel like you are part of Seiren Island, and when you you get to the northern side of the island you'll see some spectacular places if you though all that Seiren had to offer were some beaches and mountains.

The ending of the game... is something every human being should experience, so don't wait more and experience it!

Overall just writing this and giving a thumbs up is not enough to describe how much i enjoyed and recommend this game and this entire series, might be my favorite videogame series thus far, but that place is for The Legend of Heroes, they are from the same company so is not surprise that both are great game series.

I hope Monstrum Nox gets localized so i can continue my adventure alongside Adol :').
Getting into this series ... one of the best decisions i've ever made... Make yourself a favor, and get into it as well! ADVENTURE AWAITS US!

I'm typing this just after finishing the game ... and, what a game!
The gameplay is incredibly addictive, good music, the boss fights where kind of ... easy? not what i expected after playing through the other games to be honest, BUT THE BOSS MUSIC ROCKS!, just google " Vacant Interference Ys Seven" and that alone will make you but the game.

Definitely my favorite part of this game is the story, i loved every main and secondary character, the development is amazing, and if you spend time talking to every NPC you get to fully invested into the plot, and how every event affects Altago.

A great experience and i would definitely play it again and recommend it, the ending had me crying like a baby.

With this one i've finished 6 Ys games ( i'm playing on chronological order), and let me tell you, this is beautiful, is not perfect but i really liked, the best games on this engine are Origin and Felghana, but this one felt way more "free" than those, you can really tell this game was made from scratch and not a remaster of a 2D game(Felghana) or a game where you are into a tower (Origin), the exploration here is more present and i really enjoyed it, the difficulty was easier compared with the other games on this engine, but if you want a bigger challenge you can play on "Catastrophe".

The soundtrack was Okay, but to be honest, this is my least favorite.

The story was absolutely beautiful! i loved every single moment! i loved the characters and i since it's a falcom game, the NPC's have life! i mean it, their dialogues change every time there is a mayor event, you can easily get attached to every character and they make you want to know what happen to them next, the interactions between the Eresians and the Rhoda and how they coexist and get to know each other is absolutely beautiful.

I totally recommend this game, and not only for what i said, there is also the fact that... THE GAMEPLAY IS ABSOLUTELY ADICTIVE! like any Ys game, hours of entertainment, aside for the horrendous mechanic of dash jump(you'll get used).

PD: Check the Help section in the menu, this game has no tutorials.

AMAZING AND PRETTY DAMN FUN! people told me than this was the weakest entry to the "Ys" games, if this is considered the "weakest" entry, then Ys must be something special.

This game is definitely good! and freaking hard, if you are a masochist like me, and play on hard during your first gameplay, you are probably going to hit your head against a wall a lot, but believe me, when you beat the final boss and see the credits rolling, you'll feel fulfilled.
Great combat, good story, and even greater soundtrack, that's how i would describe this game. A must play for any action JRPG fan.

This is by far one of the best Action JRPG's i've ever played, the story is amazing and the gameplay is frenetic and addictive! i didn't know that a game could make grinding this fun, all of that alongside a god-like soundtrack ( as always with Falcom games), the level design is great, and the game is difficult but knows how to keep giving you incentives to continue playing, like, you are up against new and really strong foes, then you acquire a new power that at the beginning may not seem that useful, but the more you use it the more you like it and the more you find ways to use it at your advantage ( I'm looking at you! inferno skill! ) you use your new skills to progress through the levels that test your adventurer instincts and your reflexes. all the bosses have different and varied attack patterns, and the game never feels slow (except for some cutscenes that are a little long), overall I consider this a must for any Action JRPG fan, you'll not regret.

The only drawbacks i can see in the game is that it really needs a button to speed up cutscenes, and i didn't like the default control layout, changing it from the launcher didn't help but you can change it editing a file on the game folder, there is a tutorial on the guide section.

PD: PLEASE! PLAY AS YUNICA FOR YOUR FIRST PLAYTHROUGH! Hugo is a little slower and boring to play ( at the begining) but his story is pretty good, play as "The Claw" ( the third character ) on your third game for more enjoyment.

I totally recommend this game, specially if you are a fan of Date a Live, i've just finished Rinne Utopia and really enjoyed it! man, it even made me tear up a bit ( ... ), "DATE A LIVE: RIO REINCARNATION / デート・ア・ライブ 凜緒リンカーネイション HD / 約會大作戰" is a bundle of 3 games ( Rinne Utopia, Arusu Install and Rio Reincarnation), i spent almost 40 hours only in one of those 3 games, and i didn't got bored even a second, the characters are likeable, the various routes are good, THE ART IS GODLIKE and the voice acting is gorgeous, i've already spoiled myself a little bit about Arusu Install on youtube, and it seems that it has even more content than Rinne Utopia, so i'll be enjoying this for other 40+ hours.

PD: it was the first time i pre-ordered something, NO REGRETS.
PD2: if you play this your screenshot gallery is going to get really big.

I have yet to finish the game, but with the 6 or so hours I've spent playing it, i can totally assure that this game worth every single cent! it's gorgeous! the art style is pixelated, but that doesn't mean that the graphics are bad, the animations are super fluent and well designed. the attention to detail is insane, at first i was doubtful because of the screenshots, so i looked up some gameplay on youtube, i liked it, i bought the game and i have no regrets, totally recommended for those who want a GREAT Metroidvania with a Dio-Maid protagonist who throws knives.

Edit: Well, i finished it and it was totally worth it! the exploration never got boring and the bosses kept getting more and more satisfying (and hard) to fight! This game is a must have.
