A visual novel wrapped up in a survival game that couples together making sure your crew not only survives but wants you to stay captain. A very good game, I'd emplore you to try if you get the opportunity if you enjoy this genre

Fantastic Game. Developers are cool. A combo for a shoe in for a fantastic as hell game.

Unfortunately Sony is still ruining this. The PSN being mandatory was stopped, but it's still unavailable in the countries you can't make a PSN in. They did the bare minimum and are still messing with the players and the majority of players have moved on because they're no longer affected.

Cmon guys, we're all needed in the fight for democracy.

I just beat the game, and after ranting to a friend about it for half an hour, figured I'd put it down here.
Mechanically, this is the best farcry game, ofc. As an actual farcry game, it drops the ball. It feels like these two have come together to paint an empty shed with gold. Hell, one of my mates who played this said he couldn't make it far before he gave up, finding this game 'too dull' to play.

My thought is this game feels like someone played Farcry 5, and described it to someone else who hadn't played it, and that person made it. There's companions, who are only animals. I understand that - people probably loved Cheeseburger and Boomer from the fifth one, though this time they can't revive you, which is weird cos they could in the last one. There's different regions with different groups fighting different enemies, but unlike the fifth game having missions involving them that shows how messed up and bad they were, there was nothing like that. I never once felt threatened by these big bads, who I didn't even care enough about to remember their names. Bringing in Giancarlo Esposito to play the main big bad was a good choice, though they didn't allow him to live up to his potential, and just made him a mad dad, rather than truly evil.

They also made the odd decision to remove skill trees. Your speed, stamina, health, amount of healing, etc. is the same amount at the start of the game as the end. The only thing that can change this, is wearing stuff. There's multiple outfits, and each part gives you a bonus. You move faster while crouching wearing these shoes, you can hold your breath longer while sniping wearing this hat, More armour with this chestplate. This is a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying way to do this. Rather than having perks to let you have more healing items or even CARRY MORE AMMO is locked behind wearing the right shirt or pants or whatever. Take it off, that's that perk gone. What fun.

Likewise, due to no perks, treasure hunts/prepper stashes from 5 are back, and are now dime a dozen. In 5 they give you perk points to gain skills and as a result can't/shouldn't be too many, so every single one is special and has thought in them and are fun lil puzzles. There's no perk points now so these things are EVERYWHERE. Some are as good as they were in 5, though most are simple things. Grab a keycard off a body, done. Get a key off a mongoose, done. It's a shadow of itself.

They brought back brutal healing, they brought back brutal takedowns. Outposts are in, added with checkpoints, which are small and kinda fun. The main issue is given you start off able to carry four guns and have all the takedowns, and are GIVEN A BACKPACK THAT SHOOTS MISSILES BY THE THIRD MISSION, it feels like this game is an action movie rather than a Farcry game. You are an unstoppable killing machine, yet everyone just ♥♥♥♥♥ on you the whole game. We need you to do EVERYTHING for us, from gunning down thousands of soldiers to handing out letters to random people to checking on these farmers. Great. I feel like the main protagonist and also that I have to let everyone just walk all over me. At one point I realised I was no longer playing for fun but just to say I completed this. I realised this before finishing a third of the game.

The writing is weird. The player character doesn't stand up for themselves in the slightest. The other main characters are amusing at best, but regularly are annoying. The references to past games are shoved in your face, with one character you interact with just repeating the first thing the Father from 5 says word for word. There's a stranger things crossover? There's no Hurk or Agent Huntley who have been regulars since 3 at least. There's also no multiple endings, which adds to the movie feeling. You get the same anticlimactic ending no matter what. wooo.

All in all, just. Don't get this one. Give it a miss, go play 5 or one of the spin offs.

I loved this game.
The art style is great and unique, the soundtrack is excellent, and the story is well written and told in a beautiful way. The only criticism I have is that some of the puzzles were simple, and a couple times I solved some by testing out things I discovered and learning I'd gotten it right without really thinking about it.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed every second of playing this game.

I'm rating this positive because I genuinely enjoyed the artstyle, the gameplay, the voice acting, the plot, the interesting twist of the age old demons/possessions.

However the game is rather short for the price. I powered thru it in three hours even with constant stopping to message people during the gameplay. Three areas, including the tutorial, and an ending that was just a lot of talking, wrapping up the plot (with some excellent VA work). Collection of evidence to be used for contradictions reminded me of Ace Attorney but unlike AA you only use two or three with the rest being pointless, and then the rest of the case just being comparing testimonies until they make sense

All in all i enjoyed this game but wish it was longer

i was interested in this game because of all the good things I'd heard about it, the fact it won several awards alongside huge AA games like God of War and Red Dead Redemption and my friend's own recommendations.
What made me buy it was a single review I saw when contemplating buying it which said something along the lines of 'This game will kick you in the nuts and you will thank it for that.'

Person who wrote that: Thank you, you were right, I did get kicked in the nuts and I loved it.

In just about every Rogue-like RPG, the way you play is the same. Enter dungeon, play as far as you can, find new stuff, leave, sell what you can't use to gain money to buy better gear, repeat until you're good/well prepared enough to beat the dungeon, then move onto a dungeon with stronger enemies, play as far as you can, getting better, higher selling items to get better gear until you can beat that dungeon at which point you move on to another. Rinse and repeat.

Moonlighter is the same except in this case, you're also the merchant you sell items to.
Exciting twist. Unique little world. Nice story building. Not too hard to get some of the 'hard' achieves (I got the 'complete the game quickly' and the 'complete the game with few deaths' achievements without really trying).
Overall, I love this game and recommend it

Someone looked at Sniper Elite, a game about killing Nazis, and thought 'How can we make this more enjoyable?'
And someone else proposed making them zombies. And to include everyone from the Left 4 Dead games.
10/10 would shoot the entire nazi army as William 'Bill' Overbeck again

I got this game in a bundle for about 20nzd. This was the most costly of the bundle and considering it's 35nzd, that's not surprising. I don't know if it's worth that much, unfortunately. The concept is good, gameplay is fun, plot is okay and yeah, the fact that when you stand still everything slows down is clever.
However the game's about 2 hours long, and for something that costs 35nzd, that's not alot. Besides the story, the rest of the game is endless modes and challenges, which are just repeats of the levels with boundries like 'Only Katana' or the one that adds a timer and makes every level a speedrun. Considering the main part of the game is 'SLOW MO SHOOTING' that's made redundant.
And when it gets down to it, the slow mo is good for few of the scenerios you'll get into. Looking around counts as moving, so just getting your bearings allows the dude behind you blast your head off. Someone shoots at you, usually what will happen is that you can just watch your approaching demise at a snail's pace. Try to move out of the way, it'll speed up and smack right into you. Need to grab another gun after the one you're using runs out of ammo? Someone will shoot you as you move to grab another. Sometimes it'll make you feel good as you do some awesome thing in slow motion, but i have to say, either get this game in a bundle or when it's on special because it is not worth 35 bucks.
