I originally received a copy of Fallout: New Vegas for my Xbox 360 on Christmas of 2010, and nearly nine years later I am still enthralled by this the game. Over 250 hours played between the two platforms, the game always manages to find a way to pull me back. Most recently it was with the full conversion mod Fallout: New California, which is fantastic.

Are the graphics dated?

Yes, but there are plenty of ENB's to make it look however you want

Does the gun play suck compared to Fallout 4?

Yes again, but in this case I haven't found a proper fix for this outside of a full on port to 4's engine

Is this a better game than Fallout 4?

That is for you to decide - in my experience New Vegas has the ability to draw me unlike 4. Not listening to some middle aged man or lady whine about a kid I frankly do not care about it is part of that. Another part is that I feel the overall content of New Vegas is just so much better, and with the modding community adding in things that the dev team originally wanted it only makes the experience better. For being developed in a mere 18 months, this game still holds holds a special place in my heart nine years later. It is my second most played game time wise, being only beat by Runescape - which is a whole other monster.

10/10 game, fingers crossed they remaster it.

" haha, no, it's fine... i don't like that game"

Quote from Gramps, the developer.

So this game was according to him, going to be scrapped then it got greenlit. So now we are left with this steaming pile of doggy doo. It's worth 99 cents, just for the random dance battle you may encounter and for the future write your own story.

If anything, it is worth buying to support the devs. CoaguCo Industries makes solid games such as the Dope Game, and their upcoming game I am not allowed to speak about or Grampa will quote "rip out my rectum and feed it to me"

Note: This game was given to me in exchange for providing a picture of a furry dinosaur. Said dinosaur can be found here [imgur.com]

Summary

This game is both infinitely frustrating, yet fun in a challenging way. While it is not necessarily a kid friendly game as the dev suggests, I think little tykes may like some levels. I got frustrated at quite a few levels and almost stopped playing, but I decided to trudge on with it. I'm glad I did because this is a wonderful little indie game with a supportive and caring dev. Please don't make me eat those words though! I'll get around to finishing it once I clear out some other games on my list. Definitely will be on my need to finish list.

Pro's:

  • Challenging game. while it does frustrate me quite a bit, I enjoy sitting bit with my controller.

  • Heartfelt story in the beginning about the Dev and his son.

  • Game Adjusts well to both keyboard and gamepad- I use a Logitech F310, and have no problems.

  • Kid friendly options but I would NOT recommend this for kids. More in my cons section on this.

  • Seemingly generic story at first, but throws a little twist that made me have a chuckle.

    Con's:

  • In the beginning the dev recommends options to turn off for kids. I would NOT recommend this for kids- I got frustrated quite a bit. This doesn't make it a bad games by any means, I quite enjoyed it still.

  • As many other's have stated, this is over priced. I would put this at $2.50, and drop it to a $1-1.50 during steam sales. Sure it has 30 odd levels, but some of them got old pretty quickly, or repeptitive.

  • The zombies and traps are quite frustrating- I feel like I should be able to be able to run away from the zombies quicker rather than stand there like a derp. I also wish I could just over some of the traps such as the mini flamethrowers.
