This game is really brilliant in so many ways. I think that it improves on KCD1 in story, characters and world-building. Combat is different, not easier or harder really. But its a nice, subtle change. The side-quests are a lot better though in particular. Graphics aren't really much of an improvement from the first game, but still nice enough. The new mini-games are brilliant, and although using them in the main story I feel isn't great for someone who doesn't enjoy doing those sorts of things, I personally thought it was a nice touch. My only real negatives are the bugs (which are not nearly as bad as KCD1 at launch, and what I put in my original comment. In the first (Act? I guess), before you leave the first region, it isn't really signposted clearly that you will be railroaded for a long time, making it quite annoying if you like to do a few side quests interspersed between each part of the main story. I would still recommend doing all the side-quests in the region first before the wedding main quest. It makes the continuity make more sense, and means you can then fully focus on the main story until you leave to the next region. There it is much more clearly signposted when this is an issue, and so it wont be a problem backing out of the part of the main quest to continue any time-sensitive side-quests and such.

Original: I'm really enjoying this game...when I get to play it. My advice is not to do the main story until you've done everything you want to in the Trotsky Region, as you get railroaded into hours (I'm not joking) of cut-scenes spattered with mini missions that you cant depart from. And unfortunately even though the cut-scenes and story is great, I'm starting to loathe when they come up. Because it is a brilliant game, but I feel like you ruin your pacing for exploration if you do the main quest between side-quests. At least that's been my experience so far.

I enjoyed my time with it but think the campaign is waaay to overhyped. Its decent, but no masterpiece like everyone says it is. Worth getting for the campaign if its super cheap on sale.

Overall, I cant really recommend this game even though I've got some enjoyment out of it.

First off, the graphics are stunning. This is one of the best looking games I've ever played, the world feels real and is immersive, the gun-play is fun and melee is well implemented. Unfortunately those are the only things that positively stand out.

Movement is really frustrating, and bugs associated with it numerous. If you are going to make a jumping puzzle, and the snap to target is less reliable than an election promise... then you need to fix your jumping puzzles. The amount of times I've been held up at a level because I jumped to the next point, only for me to see myself collide with it but not attach to it. It became beyond infuriating. You then die, and because you cant save scum, you get sent back to a save point and have to go through the entire platform again. As an aside on movement as well, the amount of times I have gotten stuck and then killed because of objects on the floor, or because I dashed into a wall, and am now inside the wall was obscene. Almost every large scale fight I have one of these two situations happen. And sure you can say git good, but the fact of the matter is that intractable items shouldn't block my movement significantly enough to interrupt my combat.

The story is quite bland and unimaginative, and the characters as well as the dialogue do nothing to breathe life into it. Its not bad, its just forgettable. I can barely remember why I am doing certain things while I'm still playing the game, nevermind in one week if someone asks me what the story was about. There are some memorable characters like NORA and the old lady, but they don't really interact with the story enough to save it. Charles is probably the best thing about the dialogue and story. It injects humour and perspective into a very neanderthal mind of the character we play.

And that really sums up why I cant recommend it. While the gun-play and graphics are great, with a rich world which has so much potential. The bugs, the movement and the story just leaves me almost feeling like I'm playing a sandbox with a couple of quests in it. Its a shame because its so well voice acted, but you cant polish a turd.

What a great free addition to SSE. Brilliant modding team with less bugs than the original game! Decent story-line (although it starts of slow and Im only about half-way through so far) and great variety in dungeons, making for a really well rounded and full-feeling world. Lots of lore scattered around, although I feel like a lot of the grindy stuff they added was quite annoying. I dont play games for grind so find myself using console commands to skip it, but apart from that Ive had no reason to feel like I need to shortcut anything.

Its a decent game, but it really could have been a great game. The characters had good progression but their stories made them boring, the main story was fine and the gameplay was fine. It just needed more polish in all areas and it would have been much better. And it needed quidditch. It was also a little jarring to have more diversity in 1835 (I think) than in the relatively modern era in which the books took place! But thats a standard fare with a modern game I guess.

Fun enough and the micro-transactions are definitely not aggressive. Haven't felt the need for any of them.

Wouldn't even recommend getting this game if it was free. Poor frame-rate, capped at 60fps with constant stuttering making it almost nauseating to play. Crashes, uninteresting story (albeit with an interesting premise) and invisible walls everywhere, in some cases getting me killed as I run to what I think is cover, only to find it being blocked off by force majeure. Follow icons at doors having to be ran into two or three times to trigger and extremely repetitive combat dialogue. If I have to hear generic gun nut 1 say "shut that baby up" again, Ill shut it up myself. Compared to other games released at the same time, this is a really shoddy example of the era.

A good addition to the series and many more options for endings, although the choices deem seem to have quite either similar or polarising outcomes, nothing that you wouldnt expect.

It really brings the old games back with updated graphics. Really great remaster for once!
