Tree falling death simulator GG

All jokes aside, this is a great game to play by yourself and alone. Crafting is awesome. The world is massive. Building is great. There's a sense of wonder whenever you go places. Sailing your ship on the ocean and coming back to your village dock is pretty awesome.

9/10

Major flaws:

Combat is pretty lacking. I like that there is parrying, sneak, blocking. It is a little too shallow to call it a major sell of this game. Its very basic in terms of block, attack, block, attack, block, attack. This is because blocking, attacking and rolling don't really time well together. You have to wait for the full swing or roll animation to fully finish to execute another movement. This means that you can't really chain combos at all. That being said that would be super OP because enemy AI is pretty dumb and having that extra mobility would allow you to absolutely decimate anything and everything.

There are currently not that many enemy types and variations. You get used to seeing trolls, greytree guys and the like.

Minor Flaws:

Inventory management is pretty annoying when you automatically pick up everything in vicinity.

All in all the major improvements I would make are:
Improve animation canceling/flowing to allow combinations: attack, into roll, attack (smoothly).
Improve/vary enemy AI. Add more novel behaviours. Make them more creepy, or have them stalk you, or have them come up to you and run away. Anything to make the interactions less vanilla.

The engine hums. A few sputters later the Panther comes to life. The sky is grey and there is light rain. We have orders to move up to Douve bridge.

I explain to the crew that we are not glory hunters, but if we wait, we will strike our prey. Our tracks slap and toil on the muddy road as we move up the highway. Torn buildings ahead and open fields to either side. We cross the first bridge on the way to Douve and turn left onto a side road. I mark to the driver a tree and bush to sit under. A nice tidy spot on the east of the bridge.

"Engine off"

Silence.

Soon after small-arms fire erupts, and the inter-comm radio lights up. Enemy positions and movements are relayed, but no tanks. I turn down the radio to hear better.

The gunner, a fresh recruit says, "Let's move up, there are no tanks near, we are missing on the action." After many tank knockouts, and burned vehicles I reply, "We must wait kinder, the allies are too confident. Let them come to us."

The crewmen become impatient, they begin speaking and talking about their love interests back home. In the distance I hear a faint engine.

"Quiet!" - the chatter stops.

"Load AP!", through my binoculars I see through the leaves the top of a turret moving by the hedge row, but no clear shot. There is an opening 10 meters ahead of their trajectory.

"Aim bearing 20 degrees, at the opening! 400M out!" The gunner scrambles to rotate the turret. I see the Sherman moving towards the opening. As half it's body peeks out, I clutch the underside of the turret to brace myself.

"Fire!' - A violet explosion erupts from the barrel shaking the Panther, recoiling the whole tank jolting us forward from the momentum. I peer through the periscope, and am unable to see through the smoke. As the smoke subsides, dispersed by light wind, orange light dances from flames in my vision.

I turn back up the radio and say, "Enemy Sherman down."

Everything was going great. It was Mount and Blade vintage. Awesome soundtrack, great sound design, in depth character trees, good old tournaments. You just felt like you were part of something bigger, part of a living breathing world.

Then after about 4 hours of gameplay, the game crashed. I keep reloading to the same auto-save, but everytime I go maybe 20 seconds in the game crashes. I'm so invested in this game, in this character, in this REBOOT - it really bothers me that I have to deal with an unplayable save, as I'm SAVORING this game.

"Would you like to upload a bug report?" - I felt that I can atleast take solace in reporting this bug and preventing some other persons first time experience from being corrupted.

Error 403, unauthorized request. I can't even upload a bug report!

Why I can't upvote it:
4 hours in of straight playing on my character, unplayable save. Will this happen again? Will I waste my time on a new character just to have progress erased?

Should you buy it? Sure, but that moment soured it for me. Will I continue you playing it? Maybe? Sure a game crash here or there, but to have an entire character arc destroyed because of some corrupted instance where I can't play more than 20 seconds after the save? That's unacceptable.

My first impressions of the game

This game's atmosphere is eerie. The faint clanging of chains in the distance, barely catching a glimpse of a figure off in the shadows creates an uneasy feeling.

Great horror game.

Scare rating 9/10 - My horror resiliencey 3/10

Do you like RPG's?
Do you enjoy rogue-likes?
Do you like great atmosphere?
Do you like great voice-acting(best voice-acting I've ever heard tbh)?
Do inherently choose favorite characters in a game?
Do you like customizing characters to give them a personal feel?
Do you get attached easily?

Rule 1 of Darkest Dungeon, your favorite character will die.
Rule 2 of Darkest Dungeon, the worst possible outcome is the most possible outcome.

I slowly build train tracks to a copper deposit extremely far away. I manufacture enough engines to build a diesel train. I lay the tracks carefully from my protected factory fighting against time as my copper ore was running out. I place electric mines, poles and track belts to prepare for the influx of copper ore. I build fast grabbers and iron chests to store my copper ore. I go back to my base to maneuver my factory to manufacture bullets. Took longer than usual. It gets dark. I drive my diesel train over to the copper deposits ready to fill my inventory with "one hunny" stacks of copper ore. Abruptly my train stops in the darkness. I get out to see black rubble where my train tracks should've been. I follow the destruction to find my mining buildings, grabbers, electric poles destroyed.
