It is hard for me to describe how I feel about this game (there are some things I love and some things I hate in this game). I have played it since it first came out all the way back in 2003 - so for the past 22 years I have been in EVE...

That said I do highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a serious, dangerous, exciting and highly addictive game.

The most modern version of this game is definitely way more friendly to a new player than it ever was and without spoiling things too much, I can honestly say that were I new to it, I would definitely be interested in trying the game out.

There are a lot of activities that a player can engage with, from combat to planetary interactions to PvP and so on, but one thing needs to be mentioned here and that is when a player steps into the EVE universe, they need to be prepared to loose everything at a moments notice...

This game is GLOBAL PvP at all times, everywhere. Anyone with a stronger ship and more powerful skills can come in and obliterate you at any moment, anywhere within the game (yes, even in the so called High Sec area, you are still vulnerable). This, however, is what makes this game exciting and fun to play, as it leads the player to develop various strategies on how to survive and thrive in the game.

So, as I said earlier, if you are looking for a mature, dangerous, exciting, and fun game to play EVE might just be what you are looking for!

It might be a fun game to play, maybe - I can't play it all however, as the confirmation mail for my email account never arrives...

While I enjoyed playing this game for a while I would definitely not recommend it for now. There are multiple reasons, including the fact that I enjoyed the original Windward a lot more than this new game, but one of the more recent and annoying one is the fact that the trade system design seems weird to me. Let me show you what I mean by the following example (the following is taken directly from the forum of this game):

"I go to a province that has a lumber mill. I see that they desperately need raw materials and have no lumber for sale. They need everything from driftwood to all kinds of wood.

I think, that is great, 'cause I know that there is a town nearby that sells some of the raw materials. So I go there and load up on driftwood. I go back to the lumber mill place, check the market and see that they will pay a ton of cash for any raw materials including driftwood.

I try selling them the driftwood they desperately want and I get a message that "this place does not want to buy that"... What?!"

"Originally posted by ArenMook:
Driftwood is a very low tier commodity. Instead of selling driftwood, craft it into lumber yourself, then go sell the lumber."

My original point still stands as far as this issue is concerned though - if driftwood is better crafted into lumber, why then do these places want to buy it? Why not tell the player, through the game, that driftwood needs to be crafted into a different commodity first, before the player can sell it?

The above is just an example of certain design choices that the developer has made in this new game that strike me as odd and is why I do not recommend this game to other players for now.

I do hope that this game will get better in time and that I will eventually enjoy it a lot more. I will definitely keep my eye on its development and hope to reverse the not recommended status of this review in the future.

A bl**dy great game that I have played for years, both on and offline (you can run this game from its executable without opening Steam). Once I have learned the main loop of the game, it became a breeze to find signals and enjoy the atmosphere of the setting. To me, personally, this game has the same zen vibe as the trucking games (ETS2 and ATS) and the Farming Simulators.

There are still some things I haven't discovered yet that exist in this game. For example, I remember reading on the forums that there is a giant alien mothership/UFO hidden underground that can only be discovered with the Mars rover - I've yet to get to that stage as I am mostly upgrading the antennae and other equipment around the base for now.

I can't thank the original developer of this game enough for making it! Even though I've played this game for a bunch of years I am still very much enjoying it and look forward to finding things I haven't yet...

Early Access Review
TL:DR: A bl**dy good game that has an incredible amount of content and can do with some minor QoL improvements.

Ever since I got this game about a week and a bit ago, I can't stop playing it! It has a random map generator that can take letters, numbers and symbols to generate a world seed, RPG elements, crafting, monster hunting, wildlife hunting, sailing, looting, underwater swimming, fishing, flooded cave exploration (you can also swim with the whales!), as well as various guilds to join. I don't think that I've ever played an Early Access game that ran so smooth for me or had this much content in it!

Some parts of the game could, potentially, do with some minor quality of life work though:

1). The map allows for 5 waypoints to be placed on it and no more, so if you have more than 5 quests you cannot have all of their locations marked at the same time. It would be nice to be able to not only add as many waypoints as possible, but also leave my own notes on it as well (custom notes and such).

2). Since this game appears to be single-player oriented so far, it would be nice to pause it when the player reads a book or has inventory open.

3). I do not know if the devs are planning on having sea combat in the game, but it would definitely add to the overall immersion and quality of the game to have sea battles in it.

I am literally in love with this game and cannot stop playing it!

Early Access Review
Funnily enough train simulators never really interested me all that much in the past. I got the original classic Train Simulator back in the day with a bunch of DLCs and did not really get into it all that much - in fact. I have not bothered with it since 2020.

This game simply blew me away! I got it a couple of days ago and i simply can't get enough of it! I also can't believe that it is in Early Access, since it runs smooth as butter for me. I play it solo and am having so much fun, it is really surprising for me. I really hope the devs stick with this game and improve it (which they seem to be doing quite nicely so far).

There are some things that I hope the developers will improve at some point though - like the "ghost" passengers, since although you can deliver people to various stations, they are not shown sitting inside the car. Additionally there could be more buildings and vehicles on various roads just to add to the immersion, however the game is very addicting and fun regardless.

I have seen a bunch of YouTube videos of people playing this game multiplayer and can't wait to try it out with my friends as well...

A perfect "hidden surprise package" - starts off strong, then turns to crap at end game.

I really liked the setting, the graphics and the gunplay as well as the music and sound effects. Unfortunately, the game is riddled with bugs, sudden crashes and ridiculous difficulty spikes that turn into a complete brick wall at end game.

Honestly, even though I definitely got my money's worth out of the game (seeing as I got it for just under £10) I cannot recommend it to anyone who wants to have a fun experience.

Enjoyed the game quite a bit. It has some nice funny moments in it, however it also has arbitrary time limits, which is utter crap. The time limits are also completely unexpected as most of the game had none at all up to a point where you need to hack into something.

I do not recommend this game to anyone as sudden time limits in a game break immersion and are completely unnecessary.

I refunded this game due to constant crashes in the free roam part of it.

First things first, here are my system specs:

OS Windows 10 Pro
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor, 3700 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
RAM 16.0 GB
Graphics Card AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
NvME 500 GB
HDD 2 TB

When I first ran the game it set everything to work on Ultra/High settings running on Vulcan API at 1920x1200 (which is my highest monitor rez). It ran the first few cutscenes on those settings perfectly fine and then I decided to go a little easier on my hardware and set everything to run on DirectX 12 at 1080p with High/Medium settings and with motion blur off.

The game ran beautifully throughout the entire tutorial part, which i took my time with and spend roughly 3 hours to go through - all the way to and through the horse stealing mission. I was absolutely in love with the way the game looked and played.

The moment I entered Free Roam, the game decided to start crashing every 5 minutes or so. There were no error messages, no warnings, nothing, one minute I am riding my horse, the next I am on my desktop. I tried various suggested workarounds, like running the game as an Admin, unchecking full screen optimisation and so on. Nothing helped. This is why I am absolutely not recommending this game to anyone in its current state.

I am also extremely grateful to Valve for refunding me this game, even though I had 4 hours gameplay on the clock and was definitely over the refund window. Thank you for this!
