UPDATE 5/6/24
Sony has walked back their treacherous activity, and has announced they will NOT be requiring the linking in the update pushing today.
However...
We are still awaiting their future plans.
We are still awaiting the store listing to remove the requirement.
We are still awaiting the recent region locks to be removed.

Once they actually roll back, and a guarantee is provided that they will not try this gain, the review can return to positive.

I wanted to get into the game once I finished up another title.... but democracy fell, and I refuse to put my private info on the essentially public databases of PSN.

Update: 10/28/23
After hotfix patch, acquired game again. Game runs a bit better, but only after crippling the graphics settings. Without disabling Depth of Field, the game stutters, even though the game is only using 50% GPU on Low graphics settings.
Things run ok but that is when i have the following disabled:
* Depth of Field
* Dynamic Resolution Scale
* Cloud Quality
* Fog Quality
* Volumetrics Quality.
Everything else is set to High.

GPU usage is around 95-98% at a fresh city (and main menu), but gameplay wise, it feels smooth enough. We'll see how things go as the city expands.

Still a negative review until i don't have to disable 90% of the game's graphical options in order to play.

I WISH i could recommend. My build isn't tremendous, but its good enough to play VR, and stream to YT at the same time, without maxing out system resources.
The fact that this is using 45% GPU resources at the main menu, sitting on a static image is crazy.
Loading a fresh game, not building anything, and pausing.... system resources are around 46% GPU.
Anything above low, GPU is in the 80%+. More than it costs for me to play a VR title at decent resolutions.
I am scared to think what would happen if I actually built a city and put more demand on the systems.

I want to build a city, and have some great mechanics to do that.
Sadly, had to refund for fear of not being able to play. I will buy again in a heartbeat if optimization is made better, and I'll probably buy DLC as it comes out.... but this is a shameful release.

Finished tutorial, it plays pretty easily. Straight up cloned mechanics from games like banished, just different skins. But, as others have said, those skins make it VERY difficult to identify buildings once you scale up and need to find specific buildings. Upgrading buildings can be fun.... what has been upgraded? what hasn't? IS it a house? is it a recycler? The art style works for the game, but makes it so darn difficult to differentiate sometimes.

Honestly, as a fan of the genre, i'd say PLAY IT! It has solid mechanics, many pieces to keep track of, a solid management game.

If you are NOT a fan or experienced with this style of game, be warned that it may be difficult to learn the style on the fly.... but the tutorial does a great job introducing you to most of the base mechanics, encouraging you to jump in. I plan to jump into a normal game, and hopefully adapt to the styles

Game crashed multiple times before even starting the tutorial. Game crashed in the middle of the tutorial after your ship is initially destroyed. Re-launched game, and the tutorial was glitched to where i did not have the item needed to upgrade ship to include 3 guns.

Game takes 45-60 seconds to load in every time. Warping to another area is another 30-60 seconds. Game says my world is 36Mb... no reason for the load times.

Fun concept, but unable to play the game with the amount of issues.

paid for content that most of it doesn't exist any more.

Came back, after a while of waiting for more story to come out... was hoping to play a full game.
I see reviews of "dead game" and "Cash grab", and get discouraged.

Then i do some digging... to find their dev blog active, showing progress. Even if its slow progress, i'm HAPPY that these devs are working on this gem of a game.

DO i recommend you purchase this NOW? Not if you want a full story/game. Its in progress, and the story 'ends' (at least last time i played) in the middle of when you get into it.

however, this is a good game to keep in your library. It will be golden as soon as they complete it (unless they scrap it all, and start over and re-haul the entire concept of the game).

So yes, i recommend this game, but if you are worried about instant gratification, do NOT buy this. Have faith in the devs and their blog showing their work.

Play the alpha, if you can find someone who has a copy... "6 years of development", all to remove more features than were added.... If i could refund, i would.

if ya want to know why its so bad, just look at any of the reviews that actually have content to them, besides "i've waited so long for this game".
This is not the same game I played years ago, with a list of features promised to be in development. Its a solid bait and switch.

I'm just happy i didn't buy it again, and we were given keys for our alpha purchases.

Fun game... decent premise..... but at every hour i've tried, less than 10 people online.

Enjoyed playing when it first came out, and there were some actual players. But now, its a useless game.
