I finished that game 100%, and I can say that I was not disappointed. In fact, it was probably my best game of the year.

The graphic style is really cool, it is both cartoon and gloomy, and it fits the story, which is mysterious and mainly given through lore, dialogues etc.

The gameplay is probably flawless, it perfectly reponds to your controls. In general, if you die, that's on you. The enemies are all very different and you get to learn their patterns, how to defeat them without taking too much damage.
This is a really good metroidvania, it reminds me of Symphony of the Night. The level design was well thought, you come back to areas when you learn new powers. When you die, you leave what is called a shade and you respawn in the last save point (the benches). You have less max spirit (that allows you to cast spells) and you lose all your money. You can get all this back if you destroy your shade. If you don't, you lose all your money for good. It only happened to me once, and because I was very stupid. Generally, that doesn't happen if you are careful. You can also pay a special ressource to a NPC to get your shade back without having to go there yourself. I personally never had to do that.

If you want to do 100%, it takes between 30 and 40 hours depending on your speed.
The music was great, it always fits nicely to the level or the situation.
The characters are great.
Everything is great about this game.
Did I mention that there are different endings? And free dlcs?

There's a lot of backtracking, so be prepared; but with the recent dlc, it is much better.
