Generally pretty fun. Has lots of little bits that work really well, but need just a touch more polish. It's a good sandbox to play in, but don't go in looking for Cyberpunk or Baldur's gate 3 level of character depth.

If you want to give it a try, wait for DLC or a price drop. I think it's mostly worth it for the time I've put in, but nothing is "That amazing or unheard of" like you'll be seeing a lot of the same bits from Mass Effect Andromeda or Halo in spots.

I think there are two twists that *are* absolutely worth it and unique, and if the game was full of story like that it would be a different animal, but generally it's a Bethesda game, just in space.

It feels like the sequel to Dragon Age Origins I've been wanting for 14 years.

Less in "gameplay", (other than "vaguely 3rd person isometric" it's not super similar)

But the scope, material and content feels close.

Like Mass Effect was the first real RPG that had any sort of real romance mechanic or special cutscenes for it (okay there was sort of a mild thing in KOTOR 1&2 but not to that level) and they expanded that with DAO, however it was limited and even after the Witcher sort of blew the doors off that, even DAI and MEAs are pretty tame, especially because they said that certain DAO races make it extra weird.

Meanwhile in BG3 you have so many things going on character wise. Like yes there's the massive romance options but additionally there's a million different rogue/warrior/dwarf etc options that don't even require a roll that's just background and character building.

That's the stuff that feels like the biggest expansion to me just oceans of text on what your character does and interacts to the world, and the gameplay is solid (although like DAO for items it's "bigger number better" and "oh magic thing that triggers once in a blue moon" although with short rests and long rests as the limiting mechanism rather than mana/lyrium.

If that all makes sense.

Fun and features that should have been included with CS1 (like night and seasons) are by default.

It looks like a simple mining shooter, and it is, but that's what makes it great. ROCK AND STONE!

Fun with a good story!

I wish there was more to side quests rather than the 3 or so it felt like you got.

Also releasing any of the other 3 main games would be excellent. Can't wait for Ragnarok to arrive on PC! (Surely it will, right?)

Generally pretty good!

It's weird seeing things that are mild annoyances actually fixed in Mass Effect Andromeda though.

Like for example, Horses! Really helps you get around right? They're hidden in a side quest that will take you a ways to get to.

The War Table takes IRL time to do, but there's no App associated with it like Andromeda's APEX.

Yes, but if you're playing this in the year 2021 you absolutely need to make Dragon Age: Origins Large Address aware.

It's also probably a good idea to grab the unofficial patch from Nexus too.

RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT'S DONE.

(Really good, but there's no pauses between sections, so it's not super fun to just sit down and do all day. Doom Eternal and Wolfenstein TNO/TNC both have good palette cleansers so that you want to keep playing all the time)
