This game was just too slow for me.. Some servers are 'meh' at best. The maps are so large and the server populations are so low, its a very slow experience.

I've tried several of the game modes, which does tend to make for a different play experience, but for me, I like combat atleast every 3-5 mins in a game versus running/driving/flying across maps for 10 mins to get to the action.

TacBF is basicly the only decent PvP experience out there if your not running with a community. The maps are limited in that mod, just like in battlefield where leaving the AO will give you a warning and kill you if you don't return to the AO. The times I've played, people are cooperating and talking to each other too. Sadly, there is usually only one populated server in the evenings, it's sad considering how cool the mod is.

There are videos on youtube showing how the gameplay is, too.

In my opinion, COOP is where ARMA really shines though, and mods are close to obligatory for having a good time with ARMA. And as I said, Dslyecxi is worth checking out, some of his videos are amazing. If you need any help, just add me as a friend, ARMA has the steepest learning curve there is :P

Thanks, I'll take a look at that one - When I picked up Arma 3, I was really hoping for something similar to the combined arms gameplay of the original BF 1942..

Most of the servers have been around 60-70 players, but the maps are so large, if your not in a clan - it would tough to find other players/combat zones. Even with a 120 player server, it feels desolate in most areas.

ARMA is best played with a community and well maintained servers.

However, if you are planning on playing on public, I highly, highly reccomend checking out a mod called "Tactical battlefield", it's the only reasonable traditional FPS game mode there is, but you'd need to download a mod in order to play.

Check out ShacTactical and Dslyecxi on youtube, and see what ARMA can do!
