The game looks great in some scenarios. Lighting, the water, the way low light scenarios feel is wonderful. It’s a small jump over farcry5 but at a huge impact on performance which is annoying.

No real up-scaling solutions available. FSR1 is notoriously bad when compared with 2 or DLSS. The amount of lift required to get that implemented is rather small for the benefit to gamers. Real shame they didn’t do the bare minimum.

---{ Gameplay }---
Gameplay is getting very stale. If you’ve played any farcry game in the last decade you’ll know how this one works. What made it worse this time around was the loadouts and how dang often they swap out your outfit with weapons/gear you didn’t select and then have no easy way to re-equip it.

Open world gets old when the world is too big and feels very empty. There were 3 different main zones and with a few exceptions they all felt exactly the same. They are all some random tropical island. Sure one more tobacco farms, another had a chemical processing pipeline, but the empty forest in between each point felt identical. I think a map has to be big enough to be fun to explore but not so big that you get bored running around exploring it. I got through maybe 1.5 zones and felt done with the game. It was a real struggle to continue through. The final city zone was by far the worst. It was what was supposed to set this game apart from the previous ones, but it just help add to the emptiness. The city feels fake, there are no crowds of people, there are massive invisible walls preventing you from exploring certain streets on top of the big blockades blocking other routes. Ubisoft figured this out for Assassin's creed franchise a decade ago so it’s a mystery how they’ve seemingly forgot how to build a believable world. The other smaller “city” points on the map feel just as empty. Tons of apartments, no more people living in them than over by a shack in the woods.

In past Farcry games there’s usually an easy way to get chest/collectables added to the map. Not this time around. You need to go talk to 100s of rebels and have them add 2-3 chests to your map. You need to do this in every zone, all the time. It’s annoying. Don’t waste your time on it, it’s not even like you’ll get an achievement because they cheaped out on steam achievement integration.

---{ Audio }---
Game audio overall was fine. I didn’t love the rappers who put on a concert, but that’s about it.

---{ Audience }---
Clearly aimed at the average farcry fan or someone who likes a first person shooter adventure.

---{ PC Requirements }---
Ran on a 5900x with 3090 on ultra at 4k. Averaged about 60-80fps in almost all scenes. Turning down settings greatly improved performance without much degradation to visuals.

---{ Game Size }---
HD texture pack is a separate download which is nice, however I was getting an issue with textures shimmering while it was active. Game is average in size beside that.

---{ Difficulty }---
It’s a relatively easy game if you’ve played any FPS game before. Flying controls are definitely a challenge as they’re different from most other games' implementations. It’s fine eventually but takes a while to get your brain used to the alternate control style.

Some puzzles are a good level of challenging. Not too hard but if you read the nearby notes/clues you can usually pretty easily figure it out. Once you solve maybe a third to half the rest just feel repetitive.

You can equip different gear to help with different scenarios. Fighting a tank? But on blast armor. Fighting a bunch of foot soldiers, equip a bullet proof vest. The problem is that needing to change your armor half way through a fight is annoying. I think this system should be redesigned or improved if they keep the franchise alive. If you have your armor set because 90% of enemies are using guns, then run around a corner and get rekt’d by a flamethrower the advice is “oh change up your gear”, which is super annoying. I ended up just using a generic stealth build for the majority of the game, with a silenced armor piercing weapon. This allowed me to one hit headshot every baddie making combat super easy.

---{ Grind }---
If you want to get all the attachments for your weapons, or unlock all the weapons, you’re going to have a bad time. You don’t get anywhere near enough “gun powder” to make every upgrade for every class. And if you unlock a scope or attachment and hate it, you’ll need to go raid 2 more bases or do a bunch of other exploring to makeup for the loss in material. The grind is the farcry exploring grind, not “killing waves of baddies” like other games.

---{ Story }---
Story starts out okay being run out of town. It feels like it’s going to be a fresh take to the farcry genre. Then falls right back into a nearly identical narrative to the last few installments. There are too many characters to keep track of and care about. Some die, some get injured and after it happens to the first few I just stopped caring as it kept happening later on.

I really did enjoy Giancarlo Esposito the most out of all the characters. He plays the role of a dictator extremely well. The smaller baddies I really didn’t care for at all. I found their narratives unimaginative and boring.

---{ Game Time }---
Main campaign getting the team together and the missions leading to the end of the game were all good. Decent length. Maybe a little short given how friggen big the map is.

The rest of the side missions which have no impact on the overall story were okay. It was the exploring that I think took the bulk of the time. It was great at first, but quickly got old with how repetitive the world is.

---{ Price }---
Had I picked it up at launch I for sure would've been disappointed. Picking it up a few years later for $20 seemed like excellent value given how much time I needed to invest into it.

---{ Bugs }---
Number of times I needed to restart my computer to get it to stop crashing. Shimmering textures when HD pack was installed. Random enemy bodies would go flying when you try and drop them. Invisible walls as I mentioned above. Standard things.

---{ ? / 10 }---
Overall I’d say this is a fine game, but really rough around the edges. I hope they revisit some of the problems if they continue the franchise in the future. That said it’s definitely worth picking up, but for the first time ever I’d say don’t bother exploring the map after you get bored. Do the bare minimum to get the guns/upgrades you want and just play the story.

Overall the game play is decent. I think the highlight for me were the puzzles and exploration. I really enjoyed the level design, how they fold back in on each other. That said, there are a number of times when I wish the clear path forward was more visible. You see 2 options, left or right, you pick right and it goes to a cut scene or boss fight, and it turns out later on when you come back, going left was a simple collectible before which you would've gone right anyways.

Combat is fine, I enjoyed the troop fights more than anything. Boss fights I found to be annoying and too souls like. Why do I have a massive health bar if most monsters 2/3 hit you? You're supposed to be able to parry/block most attacks except when the enemy turns red, but I found that there were so many more boss moves that were also unblock-able but not flagged as such. I get it some people might like that type of mechanic, I don't. Turning down the difficulty would've made the regular combat too easy.

Overall, it was a decent play through, and I'd recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the franchise.

Decent first person slasher game. By the time I finished leveling up all the weapons I was a little upset the game was over. Music was tied in nicely, combat felt good although some enemies had annoying mechanics. Nothing game breaking. Overall worth a play through!

This game is an amazing sequel to the first in the series. It's the perfect amount of new content, great story while being true to the original game and world that was setup in the first installment. It's a solid entry and a great length. Riddler trophies are for the most part all easily solvable without a guide. I think I had to look up less than 1% of the 440 so I'd call that a win. Even when I googled the answer I was either amazed at my stupidity or realized there was a mechanic which was never explained.

The most annoying part I would say is that when you start the "final" mission it doesn't appear that it's going to be that long, but it ends up being one of those missions with many multiple parts that goes on and on. Thankfully you can go back and collect your missed trophies but its annoying that in an open world game, you're forced to play the mission for a huge chunk of the story instead of being able to pause or break.

The worst part? the DLC. Taking down hq was annoying and given how the thugs keep spawning after you have defeated them completely counters the style and playthrough established up to this point in the game. It bothered me so much that after pressing the button to save a hostage and have them still die, I just uninstalled because I hated the mission so much. But that is the DLC, not the main game, so overall worth a play through but don't waste your time on the hq revenge.

Overall decent game. I'ts been a while since I played the first one, and I feel like it was significantly more memorable. That said, this wasn't bad, good followup to the original story but clearly was intended to be played after the first one.

I feel like this was released in the peak of the QTE days which explains why it focuses so heavily on QTE events. They are a little annoying because the x/y/b buttons display on the corresponding side of the screen which sucks when you have a large display. Some other mechanics were a little jank but nothing too bad that I wanted to walk away. Complexity of puzzles was good, at no point did I feel like I needed to look up a guide of what to do or where to go.

If you're a fan of the starwars single player games make sure to play the first unleashed then pick this one up.

Overall, game is great! Few complaints but nothing that wouldn't recommend picking it up and giving it a play through.

First issue was around the enemies and how some of them spawn and how they deal damage. If an enemy can nearly one hit or take me down to a critical health level, it shouldn't be able to spawn right beside me and take out all my health. The number of times that happened pissed me off so much. Some of the enemies seemed to deal too much damage, or have too much evade too often. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the variety of enemy types but sometimes they just felt overpowered and no fun. These were imo so off putting that I'm taking away 2 points for them.

The next issue is around the fallout 4 style quest "go defend this part of the map". The first time I didn't realize it was a thing that continuously happens over and over. Really ruined my experience for a story focused game. I liked how the jukebox was there IF you wanted to do more content, but it was never required. These got in the way of missions, made travelling at times a pain. Not as upsetting as the enemy issue but still anothere -1 point.

So how do we get 8 if we take 3 off? Because the Ashtray maze level was so damn good I'm giving it a bonus point. It was a great length, beautifully designed. A ton of fun. Except for a time when one of the enemies spawned beside me and knocked me off my platform sending me back a few rooms (but I addressed that already).

Overall this game was definitely worth the play through and I'd even consider replaying it in the future.

This game is too long. It feels like too much of a departure from the AC franchise.

This is the second departure from the traditional AC model and by far a significant further leap than Origins was. As I said above, this game was too damn long and it’s in my opinion it’s biggest flaw. There were also issues with combat, and of course itemization but I’ll get to those in a bit. Spoilers ahead.

The map is huge, too huge, too many small islands, too many zones to traverse, too many camps to clear for a completionist like myself. I like going to every marker on the map, clearing everything, getting all the chests etc. I got upset after about 2/3 of the map. It was just too big. And to make matters worse, a good chunk of the map wasn’t used for the story, it was just wasted space. Why was it even there? The first expansion used a lot of those areas previously rarely used which was nice to see them utilized, but why were they even part of the base game? I would’ve rather them been a fake region wall that opens once you unlock the DLC. Now even after considering these 3 extra areas for each of the 3 acts of the first DLC, it still felt like vast parts of the map were just ignored for story content. The 2nd expansion added a new area and it felt like a great size, 4 zones, a few waypoints. Seemed like a lovely expansion to the base game, similar to what origins offered in one of its expansions. I was actually excited to finish it off. Then I get kicked down to the underworld and realized no it’s actually TWICE as big. I couldn’t be bothered to finish all the objectives. I’ve been playing these games for years and have never left a map objective unexplored/finished until this damn underworld. But I toughed through it. I finished it. And then I find out there’s a third ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ map? This is when I quit. I gave up. I can’t put anymore of my life into this game. I’m a little upset I won’t see how the story finishes but if I really care at a later point I’ll look it up on youtube. You might like these vast wide-open areas, and if you do, you will love this game. I found Origins a little bit and this was just insane.

This is an Assassin’s creed game, so the combat should be around stealth and assassinating generally with your blade. But for some reason this game revolves around world events which are huge open battlefield events between Sparta and Athens. WHY! Why the heck is an Assassin’s creed game about going into these massive battles? Is there some exec at Ubisoft which is just so salty that For Honor failed so hard that they’ve been trying to pivot other games into the large combat fighting genre? Like who okayed this change in direction? Had they played or seen an Assassin’s creed game before? If this was Mario Kart I’m sure they would’ve decided the game wasn’t racing sim enough and we needed to do engine maintenance, pit stops and get race sponsors. Again none of that is bad if its your thing, but I didn’t buy for honor. I didn’t buy those medieval sword fighting games. I’m playing Assassin’s creed, and half the time I’m running head first into a dang conquest battle. Which side am I on? Well it doesn’t matter! There’s fighting on both sides, and you’ll play both as you need to. I hated that aspect. In the past we’ve been trained that one side usually aligns with the assassins, and in this case there was none of it. It just didn’t feel true to the franchise.

Another part that didn’t feel true to the franchise, which the game has been moving more towards I the itemization. It clearly wants to be an RPG with gear that has cool modifiers. Different weapon styles to suit your play style, you know the play style you can choose. But make sure your choice is compatible for huge conquest fights or your screwed. Eventually I found gear or got a set that I really enjoyed using. It upped my assassin damage, and my main weapon did 100% extra assassinate damage at night. Nothing I found after this point mattered to me. If I were to swap, I’d lose my set bonus. No item modifier was better than the one I had on this weapon. This is exactly the same problem Diablo 4 has. The itemization is trash because of how skills or modifiers are tied to the gear you use. I can’t swap stuff out, I’m never excited to find more gear because I know it’s going to be crap compared to what I’m currently using. Or perhaps not crap, but not in line with the playstyle I’m interested in playing. And I’m sure that same exec who wanted For Honor styled game play will disagree, but again, this isn’t For Honor, this is Assassin’s creed.

The story overall was fine. Main story had some great missions and historical tie ins. And then a lot of fluff and junk that was just not needed. Maybe too much given how damn long it was. The first DLC, all 3 parts I really hated. I thought the story was pretty trash and was very unhappy with it. That was fixed with the Atlantis pack, way better addition, felt like an actual after thought to the game which DLC should be. Still felt like it belonged in the Greek universe, interesting characters, maybe not perfect, but decent. It was just too long. I was burnt out from how long the rest of the game was.

Overall the game isn’t awful, it’s just too big and too long and feels like it has forgotten it’s roots. You might like the changes, and nothing wrong with you if you do. But I feel like if the base game was half the size/length, the DLC would’ve been a great icing on the cake and I’d be a lot less upset (other issues with combat and itemization aside).

Notes:
This game is beautiful, fits the warhammer universe nicely, but comes up rough around the edges very often feeling unfinished and rushed.

Gameplay - I like the idea of trying to make it a shooter with RPG elements, but this usually means you buff up enemies by making them bullet sponges, which is exactly what this game does. Boss fight? empty endless rounds of clips. I loved the feeling of running and jumping around. But why did we incorporate a grapple hook that was only needed ONE TIME after being given it near the beginning of the game. I almost completely forgot it was an option as double jumping gets you everywhere you need to get. Fights early on felt great, little challenging but never too impossible. As the game goes on and during later boss fights, there's just so much going on, your health bar is almost always empty, explosions and plasma blasts filling the screen. Hard to tell what the heck is going on.

Performance - Game ran great on my system at 4k, although I did have DLSS on quality to keep the frames above 80 which was fine up until the last level when the game kept dropping to around the 40fps mark. Aside from that hiccup visually the game is beautiful, looks great, and the war hammer visuals were great.

Design - Some levels felt great, the train level might be one of my favorite designed levels of all time. This huge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ massive train flying down the tracks and you're jumping between the cars. It was awesome, except the part where it showed us you need to jump on the chains, and check nooks and crannies for chests, then one car over, when you see the chain you used last time, and try to jump to it, just to hit an invisible wall and die since that one you can't go near. The level design got worse as the game went on, the only time it really redeemed itself was the last level.

Story - I hope you're a warhammer fanboy if you want to follow along. I've played the Dawn of war series so have some experience with the universe but every faction, person, bad guy just felt confusing and terribly explained. Regions, why certain mobs were inhabiting certain locations felt like a joke. I realize the world they're building into is rich with existing lore, but the writers needed to do a better job of explaining why the environment or levels are the way they are.

Overall not an awful game, and if you like shooters with quick based action this one will definitely fit that bill. Not sure I'll go back for the extra content section, but glad I played through it once.

(spoilers)
ME1 Comments:
This is the slowest of the bunch. Lots of dated mechanics, long elevator rides to cover load times. Although not a huge issue with modern hardware it still feels sluggish compared to the others. Weapon system was okay, but requiring every single member in your squad to have a weapon and mods and to update them all was extremely tedious. Squad members felt good and distinct, all with pros/cons. Missions although a little slow flowed very well. When you have to find so and so's daughter, you don't forget about it or accidentally miss her, she's very clearly part of the story in the next section which is great. The rover on planets was a great idea, put just thoroughly thought through. The side missions spawned from it are repetitive and looking for material felt like a chore. Plot line was great, clear villain, all game and decent paragon ending.

ME2 Comments:
Improved a lot of the sluggishness from ME1. Fixed the horrible attachment system and vastly improved it by making weapon modifiers a skill. But then you lock the weapons your character can use? what gives? Level up system was vastly improved. Characters felt great, but far too many. Tons of overlap with skill sets. The final mission needing to know who could put up a force feed etc should've been more clearly outlined to limit losing allies. Improved mineral scanning, but not greatly. I didn't mind scanning the first few planets but holy crap, dropping 15-25 probes per planet, what's the point? I ended the game with tens of thousands of extra resources. Would've been great to know that wasn't necessary. Being able to go to the citadel, omega, felt like the world was expanding. Decent build up towards the ending and paragon end.

ME3 Comments:
Oh my god earth is being attacked and we need to save it and rally the universe, but first, lets go do a bunch of side missions and pointless crap. This sense of urgency made the game feel very fake. The other games were always "reapers are coming, get ready" but never "earth is legit being invaded as we speak" and it ruined the entire atmosphere of the game for me.

Unlike ME2 which felt like it expanded the ME world, they seemed to have shrunken it by only having the citadel be the place you could land and explore freely. Everywhere else is locked behind a mission which was rather disappointing. Improved the weapon system again, probably best of the series. Same with skills. However all of our past allies are gone, sure they show up and some come back, but why did we go from 12 to what felt like 6? A lot of the side stories had great conclusions for a paragon route. Unnecessary character death to add dramatic effect but it wasn't too bad. Definitely did a better job with the planet scanning, simple 1 target, no need to worry about probes. Way better experience. Now lets talk about the mission/quest log. the game would almost be better if it didn't have one. I missed completely a quest in omega, and it sat in my log, unable to be completed for the rest of the game. All other side quests were simply obtained by over hearing a conversation, then you find the relic by scanning the planet. Which is fine, if it told you where the heck to go. These side missions are near impossible without a guide beside you. And you'll need it, because if you don't you might accidentally trigger a mission that prevents you from redeeming it. What a horrible system. Now onto the ending phase.

The ending was quite long, and for this massive epic, save the universe fight, you'd think somehow you'd be able to take your entire squad with you, or have them show some sort of real impact other than just standing around in a few places. The shore leave DLC did a great job of that where the rest of your squad was chasing and helping you from across the room or a higher balcony. Guess they forgot about that for the ending. One of the battle scenes the screen shakes when the reaper is firing it's weapon to simulate the impact. It wasn't cool, it was annoying as all hell. You're tasked with shooting a ton of ♥♥♥♥, which you can't do because your screen shakes for 10 seconds, every other 20s. It's not challenging, it's annoying. Maybe that's what everyone was upset about? Oh nope. It gets much worse. Throw in another few of those slow walking scenes for dramatic effect. Seriously who thought those were a good idea? So I'm over a hudnred hours in, Full paragon route, and the options for the finale are complete bs? everything I've done doesn't matter because i'm presented with options that are complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The ending of Lost deserved a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ award compared to what happened here. What a huge disappointment. Ending aside this game is probably a 9/10 for overall enjoyment I got out of it, even with its flaws. But the ending is unforgivable.

Feels like the original but with the standard ubisoft collection aspect in free roam. I was really enjoying it, but having the audio cut out randomly until I restart it wasn't fun.

"Oh maybe try reinstalling your audio drivers" great thanks, I'm sure that's the problem given how nothing else has issues and audio from my browser or discord works fine. There is something that needs to be patched and knowing EA's past, it just won't.
