In typical NIS fashion, there are about twelve systems to optimize, a million mazes to navigate, a billion ways to customize your party, and I probably understand a quarter of them. I was very surprised at how forgiving the first forty hours were, and found it a breezy journey through the first dungeons.

However, they also fit in a very ambitious story where the player probably will not figure out what is going on until sixty hours in, and the game proceeds to unravel a denouement for another forty hours, and then asks if they've been paying attention to their party build and the battle mechanics.

I still have a ways to go, but I can already say I dearly love this game.

Everytime you think you're finished with this game, there's something you missed and then you check back and you keep playing

Hyper Light Drifter is totally rad, the Drifter got some sick moves like poppin' off some quick shots and dashin' in and slicing fools with his slick hard light sword. It's like a game made out of Disasterpeace album art, with a soundtrack by the dude, and combat like isometric Devil May Cry.

If you like hard-ass games, Disasterpeace, and if the words "Hyper Light Drifter" sound cool to you, this game is for you.

So if you watched the trailer and liked what you saw, you like hard-ass video games and you have 5 bucks, buy this game. It's one level, it's got a really well-done leaderboard that lets you view replays of the top 100 best runs or your friends' runs. It's got floating skulls, floating skulls with horns, scary ass barking sounds, when you strafe left and right your character bobs his head, you can bunnyhop, rocket jump, and shotgun blast some skulls in the face.

It's a great game guys.

I have always dreamed of a game that just spits out story everywhere you go. No matter what you are doing (except if you're standing in one place swinging your sword) you're experiencing a narrative. Each town, each cave, each Ubisoft™ question mark on the map has some sort of purpose.

Beware though, for a game this scope has many problems, the inventory is a pain, you will fall to your death and the main quest seems to drag on for too long (which wouldn't have been a problem if some of it had been made optional).

That doesn't stop it from being the most well made game ever. Geralt is fun to be, to play as (as in playing his role). You will feel like a badass swordsman, you will woo the hearts of women (and turn one down). Characters will seem nice, until they tell you their backstory, others will stab you in the back. Geralt spends a lot of time with his friends, who have the most memorable moments in the story. It's a video game like no other.

Gosh, this game is weird, there are funny skeletons, bullet hells, and jokes abound. It's also kind of scary.
