Best VR swordfighting game to date! Highly recommend if you're willing to not be a ♥♥♥♥♥ about it and refund when you inevitably lose your first 5 games because you have yet to learn properly. Looking at you, negative reviewers.

This is a terrible abandoned game. I didn't refund on launch because I wanted to give this a chance. Guess I am gonna contact steam support to see if they'll still let me.

Janky game. Not fun at all.

I do not recommend buying SoG right now, and here is why:

I was a beta tester for SoG and from my experience in beta this game does have potential to be great. The devs are always fixing bugs and adding QoL updates, this is why I think that you should wait a couple of months before you buy SoG.

However, if you are in the UK, DO NOT buy this game. The servers are hosted in US, so the difference in ping makes it impossible for UK users to parry attacks, making them completely vulnerable to being killed. (THIS HAS BEEN SOLVED IN PATCHES)

If you lag in most games, DO NOT buy this game. The gameplay and fighting is wayy more uncomfortable under low framerate.

The grabbing in this game feels extremely janky. It claims to have force grab but you need to aim your hand exactly right at a weapon to grab it. I keep accidently dropping my weapon (I am on the Index) and I can't tell why. (THIS HAS BEEN SOLVED IN PATCHES)

The two handed gripping is even worse. I can't bear using a greatsword because the two-handed gripping system isn't exactly how you would think it is (it is no where near something like Blade And Sorcery gripping). I don't know how to explain it, but you have to aim your hands weirdly to do a sideways two handed slash.

There isn't any objective in the game. You join a random lobby and you start slashing people with no reward or context. Personally I hate games that do this but it player's opinion.

Weapon balancing is not a thing in this game. If you are using a spear against daggers, you're dead. If you are using a greatsword against daggers, you're dead. if you're dual wielding swords (not recommended at all because that slows you to a crawl) against dual daggers, you're dead. The point is Daggers > Everything. (They tried to solve this)

There is no way to mute your microphone, which I hate.

This game has a good concept with the swords breaking and all, but I find it very badly executed and tacky. Obviously
people have opinions and this review is just mine.

It's a fun experience with friends, but for me its not fun because its competitive, its fun because its silly.

Some of you will argue that this game is Early Access so I should give it some slack. I do know this, but I am talking about the game right NOW, not recommending it because of what it will be in the future, I am talking about the game's current state. If it improves I may change my review to recommended but right now it is not a fun experience.

This review is entirely my whole opinion.

EDIT: I've changed some of my points to mark that they've been fixed. I still don't feel like this game is good enough yet, but its getting there slowly but surely. Also, the developer review below sounded somewhat passive aggressive, as some of my friends have point out and as I have noticed. I understand that I didn't own the game (I do now) and I know I have one of the lowest play times, but 9 hours beta testing is more then enough to judge the game.

EDIT => RECOMMENDED: They have solved/improved the issues I said above, the game was better then it was weeks ago. So, as I said. I will change my review to recommended.

This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Primarily directed towards children or teenagers.

I bought this game during sale, and I think it really sets a step forward other then the other games. Some are right, some are wrong. This game took open world exploration to a whole new level, the graphics are AMAZING. The work put into this game is really dramatic compared to Far Cry 3 to Far Cry 4. I only have 10 hours so far and I find this game exciting, spooky. and leaving you to play more. I will list a list of pros and cons below.


Pros:
Combat System (except for the old satisfying knife takedowns.)
The story is interesting and better then Far Cry 4's plot. (in my opinion)
The exploration is godly.
The graphics is godly.
THEY ADDED AI TO HELP YOU!
DOGS!
Improved hunting.

Cons:
The takedowns are not satisfying.
Other then that. I can't think of others.


Keep in mind this is my personal opinion, I only have 10 hours so I will EDIT THIS IN THE FUTURE.
