Early Access Review
I recommend it, but with a few caveats.

It's VERY early access. There's only one map. The guns feel.... off, somehow. Placing things like mines or explosives is very, very janky and not smooth. The game doesn't remember your loadout, so you have to select them every single time you open the game.

There's no mid-game class change, or load-out change. Nobody in your entire team has ammo and you picked the ammo-hungry gun? Well ♥♥♥♥ off and run back to the resupply point every minute because nobody can ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ change.

One guy standing outside the dropship shooting bugs and refuses to get in? Well now all of the other 15 people on the team have to wait for him.

And don't even get me started on it spawning the mining machines ACROSS THE ENTIRE MAP and making you hit them TWICE so the entire fast-paced game slams to an absolute stand-still while you literally have to stand there doing nothing with no bugs spawning, waiting for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cooldown timer to tick two excruciating minutes past, and then wait another 60 seconds for the canisters, and however long it takes to crawl back to base with them.

AND DO ALL OF THAT TWICE.

Oh and there's only one map. But they randomize objectives and locations so it's not TOO jarring.

But even with all of that, it's still fun. And 90% of my issues with the game could be fixed with patches.

Do your part.

It's aight.

Has a learning curve like being reincarnated as an F16 pilot in the middle of the Independence Day dogfight scene, but once you figure out how not to make your pc ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ explode, it's aight.

I cannot in good conscience recommend buyers to purchase a single-player game from a company that will summarily revoke your ability to play your single-player games.

At ANY price, this is unacceptable.

Do not purchase this title.

Ubisoft will decide in future to 'deprecate' the game and you will no longer be able to play the single-player game you purchased.

I'm finally done.

I played this game to relax and just enjoy something a little slower-paced. But the raw incompetence of the devs has finally done me in.

A 24-gig update and for what? A DLC Menu. That's it. That's literally it.

They added a MENU and they're so incompetent as a dev team that they can't do it without pushing a 24 gig download to their customers. Absolutely taking the piss. What next, you fix a spelling mistake in a hunting stand and make us download 24 gigs for that, too?

I like hunting games. I don't like being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around.

And right now, the amount of time I'm spending being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around is more than the amount of time I get to play the game. I don't want to have to download 20-gig updates every time you do a tiny minor bugfix every single other company can fix in 200mb.

You can have my upthumb when you learn how to code.

It's simple fun and well worth the price point.

Unlocking randomly-generated 'young races' adds lots of replayability trying to get the perfect mix of race. It's a unique experience of a game that I haven't quite found elsewhere.

I love the idea of the dog. 'Yay you can pet the dog!' Hooray there's something with me running around that makes the hunting experience a bit less lonely.

But that's literally all it does. The bloodhound's ability seems to start and end with 'sniff out blood trails'.

Okay, so let me get this straight: You have a game that drills into your head 'ethical hunting', ethical rounds, proper shot placement, etc. And then you give us a companion that only works if we're running around making wild shots, using ammo too weak for the animal we're hunting, and just in general not practising good shot placement?

I'm getting to the point where I can insta-down a moose with a .270 by putting a round through the centre of the neck. So my dog can tell me that the moose I shot is three feet from where I shot it! Thanks dog, but you needn't have bloody bothered.

The only time I could conceivably see the bloodhound being useful is when I take a potshot at a wildebeast in a herd, and gutshot it so it runs a hundred metres and all of the other beasts in the herd cover its tracks with their own. Yeah, that's annoying, and it takes a whole minute to find out where the animal I hit went, but I hardly need an entire DLC and animal companion to find it!

You have here an entire dlc built around following blood trails, which is only useful if you screw up shot placement in a huge way! Hey devs! I can follow blood trails with my eyes! There's a glowing trail showing me where the animal went!

The dog should have been able to follow scent trails. Following blood trails implies to me that the devs don't play their own game, or lack the patience or skill to put bullets where the bullets are supposed to go. They've effectively built an entire dlc and animal companion only useful to those people who potshot at deer 400 metres away with a 243. And that kind of player cares so little about 'ethical hunting' and playing the game 'properly' that they're not going to trouble themselves tracking down an animal they winged and just go after a new target instead! So I don't know WHO this DLC is for except for people who are incapable of aligning their crosshairs properly!

Get this dlc if you want to roleplay as a hunter with a dog and turn off highlighted animal trails. But even then it'll be bloody miserable as a gameplay experience because you'll be stumbling around blind until you shoot at an animal, and deliberately whiff the killshot just so your dog has SOMETHING TO DO!
