Early Access Review
I initially posted a negative review, but i take that back.
Wartales is definitely a great game, as is right now. There is a lot of passion into making it the best game possible.
100% recommend.
PS: early game is hard, but don't be discouraged. Things get a lot better :)

The general view on ME:A is that it does not live up to it's predecessors, which is a true fact. It's just not as good. It's far from perfect, actually. But on it's own, and if we overlook some of it's flaws and give it a fair chance, it's still a good RPG, well worth the play.
Just ignore all the negatives that were so hammered when it launched, play it for yourself. There are still bugs and quirks, but nothing really upsetting or that can't be solved with a reload to a few minutes earlier, or simply ignored.

Edit:
After finishing ME:A again (i had after launch), i take some of the negatives above back. I get it, now. This is a wonderful adventure.

I totally recommend ME:A.
EA, in it's huge wisdom, did everyone a big favor shutting down the team who made all of it, so there are bugs. Don't blame it on the team, blame it on the executives. The team did a hella good job. This is a really good experience.

Played STO in open Beta back in 2010(?), but left for other pastures, as it was very lacking in end game (easy to reach) content.
Came back recently, and was pleasantly surprised. There is enough content to keep one busy for a long time. Most of the storylines are good, and some offer rewards that are even considered mid to end game gear.
There is the issue of f2p vs p2p, somewhat and however. F2p players will have some limitations, as example inventory space, limited ship choices, but nothing that will prevent a f2p player from enjoying the vast content. Besides items, there is no such thing as events and missions locked behind a paywall, those are the same for everyone.
The game is mostly pve, and can be exclusively played as such, but there are pvp arenas both in space and ground. There is no such thing as getting randomly ganked while doing something out and about.
The content itself is so vast that is really easy to miss a lot of things. However, i think i can say that all of that is a great start to always have a goal, and play towards it. Mind that it will take time to reach those goals, there is a point where instant gratification (common thing while leveling up) stops, and it takes work to reach those goals. Some call it grind, some call it playing the game, your choice :)

Word of caution, the money store has plenty of stuff that may make the most hardcore and patient f2p player willing to spend on something, specially those awesome looking ships. I purchased some QOL things, but as a token of gratitude for the hours of enjoyment i've had so far, not because i felt i had to spend to be competitive. In the end, does "being competitive" really mean something here, when you just want to casually log in and play spaceships?
No :)

If you like spaceships and lots of pve content, with the random bout of pvp just for the heck of it, give it a try!

At first, i gave the game a positive review, for the simple fact that the first few chapters, even with a few bugs here and there, are fun to play. But since then i changed my mind. Later on, the game reaches a point where its just absurd. Kingdom mechanics have a killswitch that WILL end your game unless you get VERY lucky or turn it to auto, so you don't have to deal with the impossible to deal with spam of negative events with absurd consequences. It seems to be impossible to roleplay and accept things as they happen.
Bugs with quests and locations are so abundant that it becomes impossible to tell whats a feature and what's not. Class bugs. Enemies that are impossible to hit or kill, even if you set all difficuty levels to the easiest possible. There doesnt seem to be any game balance mid-end game.
Add to that the increase in time of the already abundant loading screens, and the fun goes away pretty quick.

The game has its charm, but it needs some serious work done on it. Unless you're someone that enjoys the Pathfinder universe, have a lot of patience and huge tolerance for mishaps, i'd suggest you wait.

I am truly enjoying NMS. Just took some time figuring out that it's NOT necessary to grind, grind, grind, to max out everything in one go. I watched some Twitch streamers, and it was pretty much spending hours shooting rocks. Not the way to do it, imo. Some work was required to fund a better ship, but it wasnt that hard. Once i got the basics wrapped up, off somewhere else, do something else. Getting filthy rich in a few hours didnt make any sense, it just adds pressure and frustration to gameplay. I didnt make the mistake of wanting to do everything or go everywhere too fast, and it worked out nicely so far.
I played EVE for many years on and off, and i know what true grind is.

Exploration. Its where the reward is, and the best way to do it is by actually getting off that ship, pick a direction, and go that way. Find wrecks with blueprints, knowledge stones for new words, outposts with aliens to talk to and get rewards, monoliths and ruins that will teach something about the past, caves with valuable goodies, identify and observe some absolutely weird creatures and plants, even mess with the sentries. Or just watch the gorgeous views. If you dont like a planet, just fly away. Nothings stopping you.

Combat. Its good to play a game where i don't have to constantly be killing things that are constantly getting in my way. Honestly, after one of those crap days at work, its really relaxing. The only things that will attack you are sentries (if you do something they disapprove) some planet critters or the occasional space pirates when youre flying out on space. Space combat is a bit clunky compared to more dedicated space games, but i got used to it. I may go back to play FreeLancer for the umpteenth time and find it weird too, till i get used to it.

The goal? Reaching the center of the galaxy is the pre-determined goal. Any need to rush it? Nope. It's not a race against time, its not a competition, no need to prove were better at something then someone else. The true goal is whatever wwe want it to be, maybe go that way and see what we can find?

Is it boring? I dont think its boring, honestly, and i've played a lot of boring games, and watched others play games i think are boring as ♥♥♥♥, yet they do it everyday, mainly those games where they walk around boxes for hours moving stuff from one to another. You probably know what i mean. How much progress you make in the game towards the predetermined goal, and how fast, is all up to you. NMS doesnt give you a hand, but it doesnt force you to anything either. NMS is NOT a job.

Some ppl say inventory management is a nightmare. All you have is limited inventory space. There is ALWAYS limited inventory space in games with inventory. No, its not a nightmare. Hoard and therell be tough decisions to make, maybe, but i dont see where the problem is.

NMS is a single player adventure. Getting ganked in space or murdered on the planets surface is NOT gonna happen. And i think its great, because if NMS were to a MULTIPLAYER, it WOULD happen. Gankers, griefers, all the usual Shenanigans. Im truly glad any sort of MP was left out, because theres already a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of MP games out there to pick from.

What about all the lies and scam accusations? All the rage and complaints about missing promised features? I dont care about idiocy and i wont be joining a cult. Good for them, i guess, they found the meaning of life. Gank and grief, all theyre good at.
