I've just recently installed this game on steam, but I've had the game since launch from the website. (Proud Founder) and all I can say is this:
while the game has most definitely has come a long way from where it began, it still has Pros and Cons. Here is my personal list of all the Pros and Cons I could think of.

TL:DR

Star Wars the Old Republic is still going strong. It’s a great MMO for new and MMO-veterans alike. It offers many hours of fun for people who can be invested into the universe, but like many other free to play MMOs, it suffers from Micro-Transactions and buggy moments. But after 9 years running, I believe it's still worth the time.

Pros

1. The game offers tons of things to do that'll keep you not only on the game but enjoying every moment of it. From the perfectly crafted storyline missions to the daily / weekly heroics. Not to mention all of the 4 person group instances (called Flash points) to the 8-16 person raids called Operations.)

2. The storylines are amazing, each one for every class has tons (and I do mean TONS) of ways to go through the story line, and every choice you make has an effect on the storyline down the line.

3. The game has great Replay-Value, due, to the fact that the story lines and side missions offer many different ways of going about them. You can always go back and try the different options. Some effects won't really show the major effects of your actions until much later in the story.

4. They fixed the Endgame. With the newest update to the game “Onslaught” there is a new daily/Weekly endgame that's sure to keep you invested into the Universe that you are in.

5. The community isn't (fully) toxic. As with any MMO, you'll find that a lot of MMOs suffer from a toxic community. I'm happy to say that SWTOR has a good percentage of the community that is friendly and willing to help anybody who will ask for help. They will even crack jokes in the general chat most of the time.

6. It's free to play, not pay to win. Yes, the game is free to play and with that, you can play all the way through the main storylines and two of the big expansions of the game - “Expansion 1: Rise of the Hutt Cartel“ and “Expansion 2: Shadow of Revan.” With this content, you'll have hours and hours of content to do without ever paying a penny for anything.

7. You play as a bad-ass. I jest at this one, but your character is legit a bad-ass throughout the game. No matter if you play as A Sith, A Jedi, or a non-force user, the game makes you feel amazing without being a Mary-sue / Marty Stu.

8. The in-game market isn't overly inflated. While you're going around doing missions and earning the in-game source of money called Credits, the auction house “GTN- Galactic trade network” isn't totally over inflated even after 9 years.

9. There are many Guilds / Clans to join, with many guild missions that can be done with or without your Guild / Clan.

The Cons

1. The game is free to play. That is a good and bad thing, but the reason it makes my con list as well, is that with every free to play you have Micro-transactions. And sadly, SWTOR has a lot of them. Not all of them take Real-Life money though, most can be paid for via in-game Credits. It just takes a lot of time and farming for them.

2. While the new update and patches have fixed a lot, the game still suffers from buggy and glitchy moments. From your cape phasing through your body, to eating your own active light-saber, you'll find some moments as a WTF.

3. Some Toxic Community members. No MMO goes without toxic players, and SWTOR is no different. You'll find Elitists trying to force you into what gear you should wear on a simple flash points to verbal abuse about PvP in unranked-ranked matches.

4. The subscription cost is more than it should be. I understand the reason for a subscription to a game, but when a 1-time payment for 2 month is over 30$ USD, there is a problem. There are many other MMOs offering 1-time payments for the same time frame that can be as low as 10$ USD. (Price last checked from MMO Dofus-Wakfu as if you were buying their 1 month package x2).

5. Hard to make friends. Unless you are the type of person to chat up a storm and actively look for friends on the game, most everybody leaves everybody alone. (Other than the general chat.)

6. Learning the Flash-points and Operations. When I say this, I mean by the fact that when you Que-up for a Flash-point or Operations, it is hard to find a group willing to teach you step by step on what to do. Sadly, from a straight Que-up, most everybody expects you to already know what you are doing and how to properly play your class. But, it’s a good thing there are great Guilds / Clans in the game and most, if not all, would be happy to teach.

7. Customer Support is slim to none. They can be the best at getting the problem fixed, or you could be waiting forever - it's truly a 50/50.

That's my list, I hope you found it insightful. Thanks for reading :D
