Predictably garbage DOTEMU production. Runs like a turd and suffers from horrible input delay. Just like their lazy double dragon port.

This is really awful. Unplayable. IDK what is wrong with the controls but my best way to describe it would be....

It feels like playing at my friend's house w the broken controller that no one wants to use. Input lag combined with literal unresponsiveness. I've tried multiple input methods including just my keyboard and its present all the time, even in the menus ffs.

There is also strange frame rate problems that feel like the game is stutter/skipping whenever the level scrolls.

We are talking about games that are nearly 30 years old here, guys. Games that ran better in big wooden cabinets often housed in hot Florida hotel lobbies and pizzerias. wtf DOTEMU? No respect for the source material.

Been looking forward to buying this game for months. Finally bit the bullet. Took me an hour to figure out why the game wouldn't work on my Windows 10 gaming pc. Turns out it is completely incompatible (crash at startup) with Big Picture Mode and will also refuse to launch if a controller is turned on at all. lol wtf. And the game actually has controller support built in too. I Bought this game specifically so my fiance could play it casually from the couch on our htpc. She was excited but is now generally turned off at having to play the game with m&kb. Not looking forward to exploring the parks from my couch using wasd and a mouse either.

I'm sure its a great game, but whats with the gamebreaking BPM and controller support? I have over 900 steam games, I'm really surprised that this relatively new and very polished game has an issue none of my other games have. Fix it so I can enjoy your game and change my review plz.

Just bought the game on sale. Doesn't launch. I actually already own a non-steam copy and that one actually worked. Bought it to play online with the SO. yay.

This game needs a patch asap. I've experienced some very broken graphics within the first hour of play.

The fire effects at the crash site for example are completely broken. Just invisible. I see the smoke, and the reflection of the flames on the water, but no actual flames lol.

Broken fog and particle effects. Rooms that are supposed to be steamy and atmospheric are now awkwardly bare and colorful thanks to the new textures. Murky, green underwater sections now appear clean and weirdly sterile looking.

Broken lighting. The iconic scene where you get the first gun. The woman with the stroller has no shadow ffs. lmao completely eliminates the narrative tension (the literal foreshadowing) What a fail.

I can see why this was free.

I really hate to give this game a thumbs down. I really do. But as of this writing the game simply feels unbalanced and a little rough. The game is gorgeous, exciting, and very promising however. It is sorely lacking a local splitscreen or bot mode. I kind of wanted to just sort of drop in on a game and play casually for an hour or so...but no. That doesn't happen in this game. Newcomers in this game get SLAUGHTERED. The rocket launcher is completely OP and such a cheap kill that it just feels unsatisfying. Meanwhile the flamethrower I'm convinced actually does nothing. The grenade physics are extremely dodgy. I always felt like I was kinda dropping a grenade in a general direction instead of actually throwing it. the "join game" option on the main menu is completely broken. I was only able to play using the server browser. Game was dropped almost at the end of each match I played. I admittedly didn't play very long, but the combat is pretty simple and there are only a handful of weapons (sniper rifle, flamethrower, rpg, machine gun, shotgun). Gameplay was just frustrating and unsatisfying even when I got a kill. The only reliable feeling waepon is the machine gun. Even the sniper rifle is extremely unwieldy and severely limits your vision in a way that defeats the purpose of using it. Level design is amazing on the other hand.

Bottom line is this game needs some ironing out in the gameplay dept. It needs a local or single player bot mode so it could flourish as a party game (rocket league, towerfall, toybox turbos etc) and offer players the chance to practice and have fun with the game offline. It also needs a class system or something...mannable turrets, vehicles, more weapons. Something to break up the monotany of "obligatory RPG kill, dodge, roll, crouch, grenade spam, get shot, repeat". I thought I was getting a fun "sarge's heroes" style party game shooter but its much more punishing than that and difficult to have fun playing tbh.

If you are a fan of RPG, FPS, or stealth games you NEED to play this. Deus Ex is up there with Bethesda's games in terms of sheer freedom of play. Wanna be stealthy? Go for it. Wanna go balls to the wall guns blazing? No problemo. There's also hacking, lock picking, nano augmentation, hiding bodies, dialog options, multiple endings, you name it. This game was stupidly ahead of its time. Even the story is eerily conspiratorial and prophetic. A dystopian cyberpunk future where global governments use surveillance and engineered pandemics as population control. Did I mention the game predicted the destruction of the WTC at the hands of a terrorist organization? in the year 2000.

Now with that being said, this is an old ass game with wonky shooting and dated graphics. Essential mods you will need to maximize your enjoyment of this undisputed classic include - BioMod, HDTP, and the New Vision Mod.
